It would be cool to be able to rename my movies after they have been compressed.

It would also be cool to be able to choose different compression settings per movie when I add them to the queue.

Thanks for the great software!

what are you talking about? This thread is for the software PSPWare.

Wow, just found out I got lost. Did not know this thread is only for the 'PSPWare', a product. Thought it meant for any 'ware', e.g. hardware/software.

Thank you very much! I bought my PSP (here in Germany) on Wednesday and bought PSPWare today. It is great! I am using your tool with Windows. My audio collection is saved with OGG Vorbis. To use it with your Software I installed ITunes and the corresponding module to play OGG Vorbis Files using ITunes.

Unfortunately when syncing the audio files, my OGG files never arrive on the PSP. Hence I would ask you to add support for all audio formats supported by ITunes. Maybe the files could be converted before sync, similar to the way you convert video files.

Jalafar, it doesn't matter what plugins you installed to make iTunes support specific kinds of encoded music. What only matters is what the PSP supports - and it does not support OGG, and I don't think Sony will ever. Pleas don't start a flame on that ;-) But you're right, there s should be a reencoding option. I think it's pretty senseless to have 320 kbit/s mp3 for playback on a PSP.

Verbesserungsvorschläge PSPWare

Things I would like to see:

* the ability to download stuff from yourpsp.com to my PSP while PSPWare is active (Mac OSX) - that just doesn't work.

* some kind of media manager: I have a dozen DVDs ripped and converted and don't want them to remain on my PowerBook as long as I don't need them; removing and putting them back manually in the PSPWare folder is no option.

* comics and the PSP - helluva team. I'd really like to see some built in comic support. Using iPhoto is a, pardon, pain in the ass. Make PSPWare support iComic or iComic-plugins or something.

* talking about photos / images - is it possible to increase the amount of the leading numbers? Wigu (the comic) for example has already over 800 images. What happens after 999. "your image name here"?

* advanced iTunes support. Now I have created a smart playlist or a regular playlist, but what I'd love PSPWare to do is to generate its own playlists deriving from them, like, "make album playlists from the chosen playlists". The PSP really lacks of a good way to organize music, so why not help it.

* a document tab. I know there's PDF2PSP, but the dropbox is in sense of usability a no go. Why can't I drop my PDFs a document tab and let PSPWare take care of that? Convert them to HTML, JPEG, whatever, but please integerate it and make it drag & droppable.

* the ability to generate a HTML from my contacts - make PSPWare synchronize with Adressbook.app; maybe even iCal.

* why can't I drag & drop my own preview picture for a movie? Using the preview is pretty unusable. There's Amazon and it has DVD covers.

* how are .thm files created, and if I can do fancy stuff with it: make PSPWare support it.

* I'm really used to drag & drop. Drag & drop DVDs to the movies! It could import the main feature and the main language as defined for the operating system itself.

* cropping movies is a good request, but I'd really love to see PSPWare recognize the aspect ratio on its own. When I drag & drop a 16:9 movie, why the hell would I want to have it converted to 4:3, or vice versa? I think this really would make things easier when queueing files. If people want advanced importing functionality, that's great, but put those in an advanced tab.

* please, someone revise the german translation. I'd be glad to help.

* why would PSPWare want to convert movies which are already converted or in an appropriate format? Please make PSPWare find out wether it makes sense to convert an imported movie. I know, dropbox. I say: usability.

But anyway: PSPWare really made my PSP day on OS X. Way to go!

Can you open a new topic, and put "What to wait for in the next release" ? that would be lovely

What would be nice is rather than formatting the stick each time, if a dialogue box popped up with details of the files that have been added since the last sync, asking whether you want to keep them or not.

For example: I often take my PSP to work and add music/photos/movies there, but now I am using PSPware I have to manually remove them at home else I'll loose them. If PSPware could alert you and ask you if you want to keep/backup added files that would ROCK.

I second that. Using the web browser in 2.0 I download a *load* of movies from the internet (PSP compatible) and ended up loosing them all because PSPware deleted them.

Was the suggestion "It would be cool to be able to rename my movies after they have been compressed." vetoed? I record a lot of TV shows with eyetv and love being able to just drag and drop them onto pspware to import them. But due to the weird way eyetv labels its files, I end up with filenames like "0000000008ce56f0.mpg". Ideally I could drop them onto pspware, and rename them while they encode (before I forget what each file was...)

I'd also like a checkbox in the prefs to "sync after encoding" so I can leave my PSP in USB mode while I sleep and PSPWare can toss the movies over to it as they're completed.

Cheers,

When encoding movies, it would be a nice feature to be able to boost the volume..
Also more advanced picture editing, custom resolutions (that are allowed) and cropping..

Check "Sync automatically when a PSP is connected" in Advanced.

Wow BenBurner NAILED IT!!!! everything I ever wanted in the PSPware is there. So when are going to see a new update for this baby? 2.1.4. I am really hating 2.1.3. It has been acting funky since I upgraded.

So I take it that there is no 2.1.4 anytime soon heh?

Excellent bit of software and the first shareware I have bought (and without hesitation) for my mac.
What I really want to see is the option to increase the brightness of a movie whilst it is being encoded (or keep original brightness)
The movies I have tried all work well but are just too dark. Original .vob files are fine. I know this is the result of compression and that I can pass them through something else first but that doubles the encoding time.
Either a sliding bar or something like 10%, 25% tick boxes would be great.

I think that PSPWare is an excellent program. However it has some details as follows:

- You cannot sync movies that already are in PSP-ready formats (such as AVC and MP4). When you try to do this, PSPWare automatically attempts to convert such movies (and of course, fails). MP4 movies can be sync'ed using dropboxes but not PSPWare itself. AVC movies are not sync'ed even with dropboxes. I believe that PSPWare should be able to recognize that such movies are in such formats, and sync them into the correct folders (without trying to convert them first).

- When you use "sync profiles", you must keep the PSP on and connected to the computer so PSPWare can convert movie and sync it. This process in long movies can take a lot of time. Of course you can uncheck the "sync profiles", convert the movie, and then check "sync profiles" again. But this is somewhat annoying. Movie conversion process should be one, sync process should be separate process.

- Two-way sync shall be implemented (or at least PSPWare should not delete what is already in the PSP). I know the program has a warning however this should be corrected. If you had a file that a friend sent to you or that you downloaded, or that you put into the PSP yourself, it disappears.

- If you go from one tab to another (from Music to Movies, for example) and then return to the first tab, you see that all the items that you have "checked for sync" are now "unchecked". This shall be corrected. You go back mainly to make sure that you did check everything or to correct things, but everything is "unchecked" again for sync and you need to check all over again. This shall be corrected and previous "checked items" must remain "checked".

- It would be great that PSPWare could tell you the overall size of all the items that you selected for sync. At this moment, it only tells you how much available space you have on the memory stick. However if you select several items, and overall the size is larger than the available space, PSPWare attempts to sync them and aborts the process once the program notices this. But if you could know from the beginning the total size of all selected items as well as the individual file size, you could decide which files you would uncheck.

- Languages. At least in spanish, you cannot read all the instructions or descriptions because the space is not enough to show all the words. This is also annoying and can be corrected with ease.

I also have the following requests:

- Photo. I have an 8MP digital camera so the file sizes of my photos are quite large. If PSPWare could convert the photos during the sync process to smaller file sizes, and also optimize them for the PSP screen, it would be great. There are some free programs out there that do this (PSPhoto or Hotpot) however it would be best to have it on PSPWare, as it is intended to be a total multimedia manager for the PSP.

- Photo. Manage sub-folders, you can only select the main folder, if it contains sub-folders you need to select them individually.

- Movies. Ability to increase volume and also the ability to use Quicktime plugins in PSPWare for Windows (they are only supported in PSPWare for Mac). Also, AVC support as it is a great codec.

- Documents. As many people have proposed, ability to manage contacts or convert documents into images or html files for view in the PSP.

Keep up with the great job.
