With the latest firmware out for the PSP, the cheat device and similar things no longer work. This is due to Sony changing the programming architecture of the device.
All forum posts relating to the cheat device and similar products will soon be removed.
The main resons this is happening is because PSP411 focuses on the current and future versions of the PSP, and does not support discussions of unsigned code (homebrew, hacks, cheats, etc...).
The Cheat Device (by Edison Carter) uses functionality that Sony has deemed to be an exploit of the PSP's firmware. This has been "fixed" with firmware updates. Due to this stance by Sony, the device is no longer supported by PSP411.
With LCS now on the PS2 and VCS stated for the PSP, this forum will be focused on game play in general and in game funtionality. Any posts reguarding devices that use the exploit will be handled in the same fasion as other homebrew / hacking / exploiting post would.
Discussions of button codes, in game glitches, secrets and easter eggs will still be permitted as that is all in game content and not related at all to the exploit previously mentioned. That's what GTA is all about.
Appologies to users who still would like to use the device. Discussions for the device have thier own home and can be discussed there. Let's keep PSP411 focused on games and the PSP and leave that type of discussions for else where. +

I used to love the cheat device
It made the game a whole lota fun
Now I havent even touched my GTA 
Its no fun
I mean its cool to spawn cars and go rampage without the police and not killing your self
If that stupid fanwita or someone havent made that you know what the cheat device would still live

Yeah... But the cheat device was more of a spawn from what you mentioned, and not the other way around.
Basically, Edison desided to do something useful with "that" instead of trying to exploit the PSP for home brew.
I dont recall who found it originally as there was a whole collaberation between those types of people.
It was a very cool thing, but it doesnt work anymore... Oh well...edited: Jul 21 2006

hey yoyo...u know wat u should do...look for that Thread that Has ALL THE RULES of this website and and bump it up so it can be in the FRont Page...cuz as everyone knows there has been many new ppl on here and they have been posting about the "unmentionable"..lol..and yea i think they need to know exactly wat they are alowed to talk about..

I never downloaded the cheat device but I played it on someone I know's PSP. It was pretty cool but I never bothered downloading it because I knew that at somepoint it would get blocked by an update. And I always update...

this makes me mad... I mean what's the difference between a ps2, xbox GTA cheats then it is with the psp version. I wouldn't consider it "illegal"
i mean why? it's stupid.

No Warren... You can still use the cheat codes and all that... We still support that. It's fun.
We are talking about a "hacked" save file that was called the "cheat device". It allows you to do all kinds of stuff that you normally wouldnt be able to do, like teleport, fly vehicles (even motorcycles), make you invincible, not fall off motorcycles, build things, and so on... sounds great, but it uses an exploit in the PSP's firmware. And with the new updates out it does not work at all. This is all we are talking about.
You can still talk about the button cheats and glitches. That's all fair game.

Yeah, Cops panicing cuz they cant kill you, not even tanks. You can even survive water! And that super glide jump........ Those were the good old days......edited: Aug 04 2006

I would say sure... If it just runs by putting it on the memory stick, then that's fine.
If you have to do something beyong that, like run something other than the save file, then no.
Like if you need to put something in the photos folder, then this definatly using an exploit to the PSP, so no.
It should be clear why the site takes this position in reguards to this.

I had gta and herd some pretty nasty stuff about the firmware something about frying your game the psp or the memory card is this true can that hack really do that???!!!
