Untold Legends is another hack-n-slash courtesy of the Norrath engine we’ve all come accustomed to on the PS2. Now, watch as I take every wave of monsters, four classes, and uber weapons and smash them into a small little 4.3 inch package. Draw your sword young warrior, because here come the hordes. String your bow and strap on your mail, this is going to be a bumpy ride...
Graphics
Now after such gorgeous titles on the PSP such as Ridge Racer and Wipeout I
thought I could expect some pretty wicked graphics...nope. Just like any hack-n-slash the character animations are clunky and uninspired, just like everything else here. The textures seemed washed out and bland with your generic buildings and such. The forest effects were god awful, I almost wish my +10 strength axe could cut all those ugly tree downs. What about the spell effects? Hah, what about them? They are nothing more then sparkles around you after casting that leads to another clunky animation. I was heftily disappointed. Rating - 5.0/10
Sound
The sound design in this game is pretty well done, all the sword and shield clanks and clings are all there. Voices, of coarse not. War cries that repeat every time you see the same enemy? Yeah. It’s mediocrity that you can hear so well you don’t even need to look at the damn screen. Why do people repeat the mistakes of history?
Rating - 5.5/10
Story
Ok, here we go. You, in some sort of ceremony or such are chosen as the “Guardian” of the City of Aven. Your suppose to protect some girl who was chosen the same as you. What follows is orcs stealing stuff, fetching antidote, and killing giant spiders...it’s all boring crap-as-usual. You’ve heard it a thousand times and I’m personally tired of it! Rating - 4.0/10
Gameplay
That’s about it. You hear monster, then see, then kill. Using whatever weapon you can find. Bows, Spears, Swords...every mediocre medieval weapon imaginable. Can you say more mediocrity? Again, I’m tired of it. Come on Sony, we could use more than this! The controls are not badly done and I’ll give the game props for it, they feel much better than PS2 controls. Rating - 6.5/10
Mediocrity across the board, if you like that go ahead and buy it.
