Like Diablo II for the PSP - Just smaller and wimpier.
Story - 6/10
Sadly, there isn't too much of a deep story to Untold Legends, the storyline is rather shallow. Your character starts off in the village of Aven, the winner of a competition to become the guardian of the village. A series of "strange" events unfold and once passive creatures begin to attack Aven - this is where you step in. Being the Champion of Aven, you have to defend the village single-handedly against a horde of unimaginable evil. And that's about it. The whole game revolves around protecting Aven by going through other lands (similar to Diablo) and accomplishing quests. The player also pieces together bits of Aven's past through tomes that are acquired from missions.
Nothing really good to say about the story in the game. It's nothing deep and meaningful, but it's enough to keep you engaged for a while.
Gameplay - 8/10
I admit that I was rather satisfied with the single player gameplay. The controls are easy to learn and master. There's a learning curve to the game of about 10 minutes. Everything is quick and simple to access, and the control layout is comfortable to use.
Gameplay consists of little more than moving around the Untold Legends world and killing monsters, picking up their loot, and gaining levels. It's exactly what you do in Diablo, but it's not quite as fun because there are very few attributes that can be added onto weapons. Prefixes and sufixes are denote special weapon attributes and the quality of the weapon. All weapons that are not unique can be imbued for free by using a special item, so there's a little customization that can go into your weapons.
Like Diablo, there are abilities that can be developed in a skill tree. Players get more skill points as they gain levels, and by the time you reach level 20 you'll be receiving 3 skill points per level gained. The number of skill points players gain ensure that there is a unique spread of skills and no two players will be exactly the same.
I have not experienced play through Ad-Hoc mode, so I am not sure whether or not Player Killing is possible. I believe that Ad-Hoc mode only allows players to team up and beat the game.
Gameplay will either keep you playing the game or will make you stop playing after a few hours. It's all based on what games you like to play
Music - 3/10
Just a few low-quality songs played over and over again. Nothing special. The music is at a low bitrate, and sounds tinny.
Overall - 7.5/10
If you can find this for around $20-25 USD, then I'd suggest you buy it. It'll hold your interest for a while, but there are definitely some improvements that can be made to the whole package. The single player game will take tens of hours to complete. I've gotten bored of Untold Legends, but it's fun for a while
