The cradle by Japanese manufacturer Miyavix may very well be the missing PSP cradle that Sony should have included with the PSP. The smooth black styling matches the PSP's exterior and the functionality is simple and effective. It's about time.
In the package you get the cradle and a little pass-through audio jack. This audio jack can be flipped up or down depending on whether you want to use it or not. When in the 'up' position, you can slide the PSP down onto the cradle and plug in any regular headphone-jack output cable. This is great for plugging in speakers and using the cradle and PSP as a micro-theatre display.
Also, on the back of the cradle is an AC adapter port. If you look at your PSP power port, you'll see a round hole and then two thin slots with gold contacts directly below. The latter two contacts are where the cradle has matching prongs that will power your PSP. No more fiddling with cables, just leave the cradle sitting on your desktop and dock the PSP in/out at your convenience.
The polish of the cradle matches the PSP very well and the plastic itself is quite thin and light. There is no danger of the whole setup toppling. The only thing you'll have to worry about is where to put the cradle.
It isn't just the simple design that makes this such a great compliment. When docked, you truly use the PSP to its full potential, whether watching movies or using the PSP as an audio player. We hope that Sony is paying attention because the Miyavix PSP Cradle should have been included with the PSP.
WOOT! Now I can finally complete my PSP car entertainment system. To do this you'll need this awesome cradle, your PSP (duh), a PSP battery car adapter cable(recommended), and an audio to audio cable to go from the PSP headphone jack out to any FM car radio's audio jack in. If you don't own or can't afford getting a new FM car radio and still want the PSP car theater experience, you could still get those nifty little speakers that come of the USB top connection.A fancy piece of velcro should hold the bottom of the unit to the car's dash desktop...Enjoy...but don't crash!!! Aww man...can't resist...WOOT!!!
Captain-
I ordered the other normal PSP cradle that Brando makes (I think) from Lik-Sang. Should I send it back (it hasn't come yet) and get this one? Thanks.
Thanx for the advice Cap!...I've taken precautions...I'll do a test drive to see how well the standing audio jack in the cradle can support the PSP from car traveling turbulence.
That's it Captain. I'm just curious. I was thinking of getting audio-out, but I"m not sure if I need it. Anyone know if I can add an audio out jack to the Power Charging Cradle (link by Captain) to use it with my Altec Lansing iPod speakers? Thanks!
in terms of having the psp in the car, I've found that a headphone amplifier would be _really_ beneficial... this cradle doesn't actually clip the psp in though, so I doubt I'd want it for the car, unless you like your expensive gadgets flying all over the place whenever you take a corner
Although it's almost impossible to believe it, I have this now! I Ordered it from a japanese electronics magazine my friend had and it came in via FEDEX yesterday!!! I had everything ready last night and tested it this morning with the pirates of the carribean umd playing on the PSP. Everybody in the morning traffic was looking at this thing on the top of my dash!! I was more worried about causing an accident than actually being in one. The sound comes straight out of my car speakers...it really kicks ass!! Since I docked the psp in with the audio needle option on the cradle it does hold sturdy on one side, then, having some advice from Captain in mind, on the other end I strapped the PSP down with a very slim, 10 inch long, black nylon tie down. Since I have a clear faceplate it doesn't scratch my baby...and when the movies are playing, you can't even tell it's there...I'll try to post pics soon for my whole set-up for everyone to see, but I warn you I'm very lazy about these things. I am very satisfied with this product.
