This game is fun and challenging and the slick anime characters and colorful scenery are great to look at. The authors took the time to put in a lot of nice touches like hints and tips and the time to switch between courses is virtually non-existant (thanks to some behind-the scenes loading I think). But for all its cuteness, this is a game that takes concentration and time to win.
The major criticism I have is that I've spent three days trying to unlock some of the myriad "unlockables" but so far I only have a white polo shirt and a new hairstyle! So, I'm still stuck on the same Alps course and I hope I'll unlock some more courses before I get bored. One word of advice - every hole counts - you can't just relax and slog it around because, like in real golf, you'll lose. Also, like in real golf, the games do go on a bit, so sit comfortably and concentrate. Now all I need to do is take my own advice!
The only other issue I had was that you can't get to the Options mid-game, so if you don't like the set up, tough.
Other than all that, I really like this game and I think it's something that I can definitely keep on playing for a long time yet - if I can just stop getting those double bogeys

lol, i found this game surprisingly easy. you must not play golf games very much! i disagree with your review. take out the difficulty (which you are the only one that seems to be having), and give this game a higher rating.

Yeah, I must admit, pretty much straight away I was getting eagles and birdies... I am only on the first set of holes though, maybe the difficulty ramps up quickly?
+
Also the GFX here have been snarffed from IGN... If you're gonna nick them at least give credit or remove the logos

even in the higher levels, the computer AI seems to vary. sometimes they make some incredible long putts, other times they miss one-footers. so i say the difficulty is easy to medium at all times. maybe the reviewer just has difficulty reading the greens... my advice to him is: just follow the slope lines and count how long it will take to make the putt and see how the slope lines affect the line to the hole. then look at where the little flag is on the POWER meter and aim to get the power near that point. if it's an uphill shot, add a bit more power than where the flag is, if it's downhill, take a bit off the power. it's easier when you're actually putting.edited: May 19 2005

is it easier or harder than tiger woods 2005?
+
Woulden't leaving the logos in be giving IGN credit?

On 2 of the pics you can't see them fully. Not a biggy just not sure if it was propper, thats all.

Picked this one up a couple ofdays ago, not had too much time to sit and play but it's a great game to play in short bursts and then put down again.

Okay, I've played this game solidly, and I mean SOLIDLY for 3 weeks now and I think it's the best game I've had so far on the PSP. Now that I've mastered the putting, I'll up the rating to hmmm, 90. Getting a chip-in eagle feels just great. Also, the nice touches just keep on mounting, like the way the massive backspin can literally burn a black track into the green! Good stuff!
It did take me a while to get the putting right though and I'm still not sure how I've learnt it - I just seem to know the right angle now and "feel" that it's right. Odd.
I've never played a gold game before, and actually I think I might have a look at the Tiger Woods game now whereas before I'd never consider it.
