Spider-Man 2 is an accurate video game interpretation of the movie, but there are a few features that make this more than just a bland port. From the well done graphics and music, the game and cut scenes come together well and make this feel more like a very interactive movie.
Peter Parker progresses through a pack of 19 action-packed missions, punching and kicking his way towards whatever goal needs to be done. The controls are simple, X jumps and Square/Circle punch and kick, Triangle is used to attack the enemy with a web. Left shoulder actives the homing feature and the Right shoulder allows you to travel around the room or city via Spider-Man's infamous and seemingly never-ending web.
You gain points throughout each stage depending on the combos you use and other factors. Eventually you will have enough points to upgrade your jumping, web capacity, energy and more. There are even extra movies which you can unlock. The pacing was done well enough so that it wasn't until near the end of the game that we had obtained all of the power ups. Replaying the levels will get you more points and allow you to unlock everything quite easily.
The difficulty level in Spider-Man 2 is a little off-kilter. Most of the stages are very simple to get through, but the few bosses that are in this game can be quite a challenge, leading to a somewhat misbalanced game. You'll think you can beat the game in a few hours and then you come to the first or second boss and have to really take some time to figure out the boss's weakspot.
The levels and goals are varied enough to be hold your interest over the course of the game. Although getting the hang of webbing around in large environments can be a little unwieldy at times, it adds to the challenge.
Spider-Man 2 isn't for everyone, but it can provide your next PSP lull with a bit of simple action-packed gaming.

I am generous, mainly because the games do impress me. I think too many people aren't appreciating the fact that this is console-style quality gaming on a portable. I expected to be dissapointed by SM2, but I genuinely had fun with it. I'm sure something will come along to dissapoint me

i had some decent fun on the PS2 version of this game but when i heard that this version wasnt going to be free roaming it kind of bummed me out. also, i wish instead of shocker and rhino they added baddies like venom and carnage muhahah lol. anyways, will a person like me still enjoy this game even though i've played the "better" console version? the boss battles look very similar to the console ones.

Rented it.. moved on.. Come on Sony let's see some more "good" games!
