| Summary: Bigger is Better
91
When I first took the Logitech Playgear Pocket out of it's hard security packaging and held it my hands, my first thought is "Wow this thing really is as big as everyone says it is." But after placing my PSP into it's new hard shelled home i was incredibley pleased. Not only does the case leave all the proper openings so it can be used for music but it closes securely and looks good doing it.
Protection
The case being made of a hard polycarbonite plastic makes you feel safe carrying your PSP around with you more often. The only things this case can't protect your PSP from is water and dust. The case does scratch and even after my first day of having it, I was sad to see one large scratch down the back of it after sliding it into the glove compartment of my car. But better the case then the PSP right?
Versatility
The case can also be used as a stand for watching movies as the back lid folds back to hold the PSP up at a perfect angle. This is perfect for those of you out there that want to buy UMD movies or watch your favorite TV episodes off the memory stick. I personally have yet to find myself watching many programs on the PSP but that may be due to the fact that I have a huge entertainment setup and rarely leave the house with my PSP. The case also gives you the ability to modify it. Due to it's removeable rubber insides you can create personalized inserts so that your Logitech case is easily distiguished from the other boys and girls on the block. Be careful though, just as the PSP is a magnet for dust so is this case. Once you remove the rubber backing you may find it hard to ever get your case free of dust from between the rubber. Finally, and my favorite part, you can easily listen to music while your PSP is comfortably locked away inside. This is due to the fact that all the nessesary ports are kept open by cut outs in te case. Since i don't own any portable music devices, I use my PSP for all my music needs. My favorite use for it is in my car. No longer do i need to create mix CD's or swap discs while driving. I just turn on my PSP, hook up my FM transmitter, and listen to my music over my car stereo. And thanks to the Logitech Playgear I no longer have to worry about my PSP getting all scratched up.
Downsides
The case is bulky and while this does not at all bother me I can see how some people might see this as rather annoying. If you wear tight pants or don't carry a backpack with you, you might have trouble finding a place to put this when you're on the go. I personally can fit it easily into either my pant's pockets ( i don't wear really baggy pants) or the inside pocket of my jacket. The second downside of this case is that there is no storage. I have looked at tons of cases and none seem to fit what i'm looking for yet. I would like a case with enough storage to hold some UMD's, headphones and remote, charger, and memory sticks, while staying as slim as possible. Every portable gaming device i have owned before the PSP has sold a case to meet my needs but I have yet to find a proper All-in-One case for the PSP.
Conclusion
If you want protection and a sexy sleek accessory then the Logitech Playgear Pocket is for you. If you want a slim case or storage then maybe this isn't for you.
