This is easily one of the best PSP games available around so far. If you enjoy strange music games like REZ, Amplitude or Beatmania on the one side, and puzzlers like Tetris or PuyoPop on the other, you can't go wrong with Lumines. It's a mix of Puyo and REZ from hitmakerTetsuya Mizuguchi.
One more time he has delivered his genius in gaming form, blending addictive puzzling with making music. Every move, every SFX in the level makes a different sound, when added to the perfect background music makes the whole experience just brilliant. If you don't understand weird, Japanese music games - forget Lumines, but if you love them - go for it ASAP.
It's strange that Lumines is pronounced (LOO-min-ous)... but hey, if the game is good, the game is good. It's one of my favorite games and it's an amazing blend of sight with hearing.
Weird Japanese music games? Believe me, this is far from a weird Japanese music game - Para Para Paradise is closer to that, and that's still not one of the really weird ones. I'm just glad we don't have any weird American music games on the PSP - like American Idol or Britney's Dance Beat where you compete to be.......a backup dancer. However, maybe we'll get Britney's Baby Beat later where you compete to be a midwife, or Ike Tuner's Wife Beat, which Joe Lieberman will play secretly as a guilty pleasure.
I know that Jap games can be a lot more weird than Lumines - but You can't disagree, that game is not a usual "cup of coffee" I agree with You -let's say NO to Britney or Idol on PSP, but I'd love to have mobile Parappa, Beatmania or Mr. Maestro...You know what I mean.
