Summary: Great find

I read about people using the sour candy altoids case for UMD storage the other day. I went out and bought the sour apple altoids to try this out. First of all let me say, it works great at protecting 3 games at most(comfortably). With absolutely nothing on the bottom it will fit 3. I tried leaving in the paper cushion thing that came with the altoids and it made it too hard to fit 3 in there. So with nothing on the bottom I fit the first two in easily, the third one slides and pops in perfectly keeping all 3 games firmly set in place. I did try more than 3 games and I did get one more game in but the fact that I needed my key to take it out took me away from the idea of cramming 4 or 5 in there. You could actually fit 5 without really chance of damaging too much, but it's easier with 3 and you have a little extra room for a small wipe cloth and or memory cards, probably up to 8 memory cards with 3 UMD's in there. I myself have the free wipe cloth from buying the pelican screen guard in my case, its a little smaller than the stock one.

Overall, I see this as truly a great find. I went to look at single cases at the stores today. Basically for around 10 dollars, you can get 3 singles cases or 2 cases that hold 3 each, both by the way arent as protective as the altoids container, but you may be able to find much cheaper ones online. So I went to my local longs drugs and found the apple sours for a little over 2 dollars. the candy is actually pretty tasty and you wipe it with some water and dry it, and you get a great protective, slightly water tight, UMD case for 1-3 games for about 2 dollars. That and you have the extra space for memory cards while eating some decent sour candies lol. Great find to film geek who originally posted about this, Altoids case for UMD storage get's a 9/10

Altoids tins suck. I'm using 50gram and 2oz Tobacco tins. They look cooler, are slightly larger than the Altoids tin (thus making them perfect on that alone), and accomidate more than 3 or 4 UMD's WITHOUT rubbing or getting stuck. link and link

#1 - need a link to a tin, hard to find what you mean on your links
#2 - Altoids tin is $1.99, how much is a tobacco tin? I can get two UMD holders that hold 3 each for $5 at sears, is your tin cheaper than that?
#3 - you shouldn't use tobacco, candy sugar ain't great for you either, but much healthier than tobacco

how would it look cooler to carry your games around in a tobacco tin... i pick bright altoid tins anyday... plus you get yummy sour candies, instead of clogging your lungs and getting mouth cancer from tobacco...

i'm satisfied with my sours cans, i dont smoke anymore, and i'm gonna put some cool sticker on my altoids can anyways. These tins are easy access and cheap for people to just go and buy almost anywhere. For people that want a specialty tin, then you can go and buy tobacco tins if thats your pleasure, but for regular people just looking for a decent and cheap case, altoids sours works great

maybe I am just lucky but the shop where I buy my games from throws in a free UMD protector.

True, I'm not 14 and prone to spew the "Smoking is bad for you" bits when that's not even the issue. It's an issue of which is practical- 1 tin to hold 5 or more UMD's plus accessories, or 6 Altoids tins to hold the same and which are bulkier. Put 'em in whatever you want, but for chrissakes keep the "Mommy told me tobacco was bad" propaganda in your schools.

i would get the $5 cases at wallmart. I mean if GT is right than its like $1 deff, but the altoid case is a great novelty!

i dunno, i never bothered to smoke. so i won't bother starting now at age 23. the candy tins tho, well hey candy is good
and since either of the tins seem to do the job. its all really which is more practical. if you're a candy junkie.. then altoids tins it is.. if you're a enjoyer of tabacco products. then.. tobacco tins it is! it would just be pointless for someone like myself to buy the tobacco tins.. cause i'd just end up chucking the stuff out. and that, would be quite a waste.
