Initially I liked this game, rented it once, played it a little and enjoyed it. However I really didnt play much more than an hour or two of scattered play.

I decided to have another play at it, and spent a good few hours, and found this game to be something I have been looking for! Card games havent really appealed to me before - I had played some Pokemon and a few other bits and pieces, and I couldnt really see the fascination. With MGA it was when I started seeing movies and characters from the original series that got me interested, then as you unlock more and more packs you get more and more advanced cards, with some great attached 'little flashbacks' to characters, events and such that have happened in the series. To me this gives the game a real sense of depth. And finding some of the 'more special' cards is really rewarding.

On top of this the gameplay is excellent. I enjoyed it the first time I played it, but as the story of the game unfolds and how Snake becomes involved, and the missions increase in difficulty, it gets very intense. You really have to be wary how you use the cards and how to fill a deck out. I realise when I first played the game, I made some pretty critical errors in using the deck - I thought filling up with offensive weapons is the best :-) .. however thats just a no-no :-) And I threw away the '-4' cards thinking they were useless and wasted a precious turn.. woops again. The next time round I played this.. it was obvious that a balanced deck was critical - especially in some of the later missions.

This game is for me, quite a surprise. Since initially I thought it a good game, and would have rated it 75 and maybe a little more. Now, that I have really spent some decent time with it, its even much better than I originally thought :-) The graphics are brilliant.. the sotry is excellent.. and the gameplay.. its just great for someone whom has been looking for a decent strategy style game on console! but its portable even!. If you have played this and given up on it or just didnt think it overly fun, I recommend a thorough 'go' at this game.. it really is worth the effort. And if you are any sort of Metal Gear fan.. you just have to get this game.. its top notch.

Good
Graphics, gameplay, sound, story..

Bad
There are a couple of little quirky things like the camera getting obscured every now and then, and some of the interface gear can get a bit annoying.. so minor though..

When I initially bought it, I didn't realize it was a card based game. I never got into Magic or those games and was initially thrown off by this game, thinking I had wasted $40. I couldn't even make it through the first level for the first hour of playing, I just had no clue what I was doing. But now that I have played it for a week, I find myself playing it whenever I can. It does have a lot of action and can be quite fast paced. I would recommend this game for the PSP. It's a great game to have with a portable system and can waste a lot of time. The graphics are great as well. I have to agree with the original poster that the camera angle does get a little weird at times and I find it hard to see a particular thing I am trying to look it, would have been nice to have a zoom.

the metal gear series has always had camera issues in my opinion. i dont know, maybe its just because its a stealth action game but i never saw a problem with MG having the standard over the shoulder 3rd person view like syphon filter, tomb raider, GTA. do you advance in levels like a RPG game or is the motive mainly story? i hear a lot of mixed reviews about this game and it makes me curious to try it out, i just dont know anyone that has it hehe.

This game is very story driven - however, once you unlock areas you can go back to them, and the mission objectives change. You can get extra cards, or just spend some time getting extra points to buy more cards at the card shop. As far as gameplay goes, there is a great deal of replay value and longevity in playing. Also, you get to play as other characters too that is very kool (they have different capabilities).

i luv this game, very addicting stratagy game. This is kinda like ff tactics gameplay with cards for those who haven't played it. I recommend it if your looking for a stragtey game with a high replay value, a good story, and excellent gameplay. It take an hour or so to get hang of game mechanics but once you do it a really enjoyable game. Tutioural could have been better. There are different ways to win...to suit ur style of gameplay.

I haven't gotten past the first challenge - the one where you have to sneak past the guards and get through the gate.

I always seem to be "seen" - if you can help me defeat this first challenge, I'm sure I'll find the game more interesting.
