I have had my BaseStation since they first came out. I have to say I don't know what I would do without it now. There is nothing like watching cable or my huge 500 dvd collection from anywhere I can get a wifi connection in the world. Super simple to connect and setup.
If you think about it, 70% of the month I am at work, which to me wastes the money I pay for cable. Not so much anymore. I watch my cable at work on my PSP. It's also fun to have people ask at Starbucks what I am watching. (oh and for those wondering about the PS3, only the high end one with have Basestation abilities from what I hear)
Hit the product info button to find out that... His review was good. Says it's great. Not the longest, but according to him he doesnt know what he would do without it.
Personally for me it's not really that great as my local ISP/Cable provider gives me a DVR box that can dual record while you watch something else recorded. Which is better than TIVO and this. Unfortunatly you cant conncet anythign to the box to get recorded stuff off. But my media center PC does that.
I am totally getting the expesensive PS3 so I can enjoy this myself.

ummm what does the DVR have to do with the location free base station? (except about missing out on TV so waisting money for cable)... but still, it isn't anything with streaming to your PSP.
but you will get one if (if) sony puts one in the PS3 for us. (im getting one too). have to see if its in there at TGS.

This is a 200.00 item and it's worh it. I have it too it take a little bit of work to set up the network to play away from home but a quick call to sony and they will have you up and running in ten minutes. I don't think the PS3 will have this ability since it does not have INPUTS for the video and cable.
I can still cancel my order, but it could take another year for these to arive in europe again, and I've been waiting for almost a year already... what to do...????
I just paid almost $400 to order the europian version and at the same day they come up with this this and this. It has AVC h.264 encoding, and optional build in wifi...

ok 2nd post guy. a review is a document written by a customer who has experienced the product telling of what HE thinks of the product, giving opinions and thoughts on it. not a list of what features it has, you can read that on the box, but a review from an actual person gives you insight. i liked this review because it told me what i could do with it buy telling me how he used it, which is proboabaly whtat ill use it for when i get one, because i read this insightful review. good review MSerak
Can any one answer one question
Dont know if I understood it worng or anything but how can you watch the TV from you PSP any where?
I mean dont you have to be the same place where the location free is?
Can some body explaine me that
Archie411, you hook up the locationfree basestation to your home network, which is (if static outside ip) also accessable from the internet. So when you are in a coffeshop or hotel on the other side of the world with wifi, you can watch your home tv/dvd/hdr etc...
I don't know if this is worth the money for me or not. Like yoyo_pete, I have a dual tuner DVR. It does a great job of recording anything I want to watch. I can't think of a reason why I would need to watch something via Location Free, when I can play game, movies or music and then watch recorded shows when I get home. Plus, that way I can skip the bad commercials.
As for this review, the reviewer said it was good and why he thought it was good. That sounds like a review to me. If you need more in depth details on how it works, get friendly with Google.
theazhrei, you don't get the point, it's not for watching at home on the couch.. it's for places you don't have a tv at home, like in the kitchen, bathroom or garden at night. or in coffeeshops or hotels etc with hotspots. You can watch your beloved DVR from there!!
But better wait for the new versions in october, they have AVC h.264 encoding and optional build in wifi for at home. (And they look a lot better too) link and link
