| Summary: Defining PSP gameplay one slaughter at a time!

Yea, I have logged 60+ hours on this game and I STILL can't put it down. So, I decided to write my first review on this game. Here is a breakdown of the individual sections:
Graphics: Wow, what can I say. The graphics are amazing and really show what the PSP is capable of. The detail of the monsters is outstanding with as much detail as showing the damage you inflict on them.
Gameplay: I know this game really doesn't have a solid storyline, but it doesn't need one. The constant striving to improve your weapons, armor, and kill count of creatures is enough motivation to get at least 100+ game hours.
Multiplayer: This is where Capcom really messed up. This game would have gotten a 100 score easy if it was infrastructure. This would have made it so much easier to get past guild quests instead of looking for friends that have the game or begging them to get it.
Load times: The load times are about average for a PSP game and could be shorter. Just to put it into perspective, I feel that games like the first Untold Legends and Midnight Club 3 have outrageous load times.
I know that there have been complaints of the lack of a lock on feature in this game. Well, boo hoo. I'm sorry that so many games out there have handicapped people by automatically targeting your opponent so all you have to do is move around them and pull the trigger. This game takes a more practical and logical approach and makes you actually have to judge where the creature is and how you will hit.
All in all, this game is amzing and I would recommend it to anyone, especially my friends so I could get some ad-hoc play. :D
Note: I have heard that the next Monster Hunter for PSP will have infrastructure. If so, then don't hesitate to pick that one up.

The only thing this game is ruined by is no online. And a small amount of load times between each area. (Don't let this discourage you from buying it)

I stopped at 30 hours becuase I couldn't get any further without someone to play with... and I only know one person who lives in the same town as I do and owns a PSP. Sadly, he doesn't own MHF -_-
Still a great game, a shame I can't play any more on my own.

keep on trying, that's the least i can say.. i find it hard myself to find person who play mhf in my area.. but i reach more than 100 hours of gameplay by myself, i dont mean to boast or something but there actually missions that easy enough to play alone..and keep redoing missions for practice and you can get more money for weapon/armors upgrades or you can just gather stuff from the missions and sell them.. if you upgraded enough you'd find it quite easy to beat a wyvern.. and if you're stuck just switch to another game to refresh yourself and play it again later on.. hehehe..

KageNaruto said: "you cant have done all the chief quests in 30 hours"
Hence is why I said that I cannot progress any further... I've come as far as three stars (two at the guild - only have one or two quests left) and my character is obviously not strong enough to get any further than that, I only get beat up :/
And no I am not going to grind older quests just to get enough money and ingredients to make some stupid kick-ass unbalanced armour that everyone else has -_- I want to have the freedom of choosing my own equipment and path. It's not like I'm running around naked with a sh*tty weapon :S After all, the game is designed for co-op. Some monsters are supposed to be insanely difficult, if not impossible, to defeat on your own and I accept that.edited: Aug 30 2006

um not they are not supposed to be insanely difficult. so im guessing you cant beat the rathalos or what? and this psp game inst designed for co-op, hence the chief quests, they are designed for 1 player mode. and you dont need to go to older quests, if you progressed through the game correctly you should already have enough equipment to get a weapon good enough to unlock level 4 quests. and if you dont make the correct armor, you might as well giv up on playing the game right now

KageNaruto... Has anyone ever told you that you come off as a little arrogant. Instead of putting people down by telling them that they, why don't you try to help them... Give them advice from your endless wisdom.

Heh.. I was kinda thinking the same thing. I almost wrote the same exact note to you Kage, but thought I'd let it go. You do sound pretty high and mighty alot of the time. Thanks for the help you've given ME by the way! Peace.

Np guys, I accept the game's difficulty level
Heh, "if you progressed through the game correctly" - now that's funny ^^ I'm glad that I obviously must've played it my way instead then. I promise you that the experience was just as entertaining even if I am stuck at the moment - something that Chance here is very well aware of having read my review and talked some about it and the game's fantastic gameplay edited: Sep 05 2006

hey you can go through the game your way, but thats porbably why youre stuck. the game almost forces you to make certain weapons at times, and then almost forces you to make a certain elemental weapon or different class of weapon to get through certain quests.
i can play this game my way too, doing the first quest given to you over and over again, but that wont get me far now will it?
