This is the first time I've actually played a Wipeout Game and i'll tell you, I was definitely impressed. I'll break up the review into 5 sections: Playability, Load Times, Graphics, Sound, and Overall Value.
Playability - 95
The game is easily accessible at the beginning of the game. As the game goes on, and as you unlock more classes, the vehicles speed limits are pushed up as is the enemies' AI. They require more skill, speed, power, and quick instincts. This is what makes the game so fun. Don't worry, the classes are harder as you go on but at a good pace, so it's easy for newbies. Then again, this isn't the kind of game you should play on the go. It requires a lot of focus rather than the occasional pick up and play. This may hurt the value but it's well worth the price. Also, with the extra downloadable content, it definitely helps increase its gameplay.
Load Times - 85
The game's load times are about 10 - 15 seconds. They're tolerable so they don't provide much of an impact.
Graphics - 90
Since this was a launch title, many would expect this to be some what average graphics. But this surprised me. The game's graphics, in my opinion, are definitely some of the best I've seen on the PSP (and I have Monster Hunter!). There is some slowdown as the game does get quite chaotic.
Sound - 90
All the techno songs they offer you to listen to is great. It matches the game perfectly.
Overall Value
Since this game is becoming a 'Greatest Hits' game I have three words for you: BUY THIS GAME! At $20 you'll be getting Superb replay value, outstanding graphics, and downloadable content. Don't miss out on this wonderful futuristic racing game.
