Summary: Unoriginal and boring

There is nothing special about this game. This is just an average hack-and-slash RPG clone. The story is almost nonexistent. The load times are ridiculously long, and you have to wait everytime you leave town, or go into another area. Also, when you are accessing your inventory, you have to wait for the images of your weapons, armor, items, etc. to load again.

The graphics are the ONLY good point (but then again you have to wait for the graphics to load). Turn off the crappy music to save battery life. There's no replay value at all. There's only four different classes, and the gameplay is so lackluster, boring and repetitive that you won't want to play the game again. One major gripe I have is against the BOSSES. They are WEAK and easy to beat.

I've never bought a single item since I've begun the game. I've sold dozens of dozens of health potions. Yes there are probably over a thousand items in total, but theres about 100 variations of the same item. Also, all these variations look exactly the same, they only differ in stats (except if you modify your weapon with a stone, then the weapon will glow different colors). A little simple math and you realize that there aren't that many *different* items.

If you want mindless boring gameplay and you don't want to think about strategy, then this is the game for you. Otherwise, don't waste your money like I did.

I am thinking long load times would pretty much make any game no fun to play. Especially considering that your supposed to be gaming on the go

I think that the game's graphics, sound, combat system, and skils are very well done, however I have a few problems....

The map drives me crazy. If you enter an area and return from that area (go to Aren and back, for instance), the map rotates and you can't tell which direction is north. It's hard to re-orient yourself.

Death should be permanent.... not just a matter of being sent to beginning of the same level.

The bosses aren't tough enough.

Quests are redundant and a bit boring.

One more....

I really dislike how the bosses are shown on the map before you even get to that area.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I think this game is a lot of fun. Yeah, the bosses aren't that tough, but when you're playing with multiple people, it's a great game. Reminds me of Dungeon Siege. My brother and I find ourselves playing Untold Legends for hours.....

I really like this game, but I can see getting tired of it after leveling characters up beyond 25-30 or so (level cap is 50 I think). If you can stand the repetitiveness, this game will last a loooooong time, it has zillions of quests and dungeons. To each they're own.

The best way to know if you'll like this game is whether or not you've played Baldur's Gate and Champions of Norrath (it really is that simple). If you like those, you'll like this, the gameplay is virtually identical, just smaller scale. I'd say it's 90% of any similar console game. If you tired of Baldurs/Champions very quickly, the same will happen with this game.

If you liked Baldur's and Champions, but don't like this, then I'd have to say you're in a minority. If you've experienced the gameplay of those two console games, you should know what to expect from Untold Legends.

Oh yeah, I find the load time manageable, perfect opportunity to take a sip from your drink or other imbibement, stretch your fingers, crack your knuckles or anything else. It is excessive by most standards, though, hope they fix it if they do a sequel.

I picked this game up and it's my first hack and slash RPG. I really liked the Onimusha series on the PS2 and this looked as close as I could get for a launch title (story, sword, etc.). IMHO, yes, the bosses are wayyy too easy to kill, in fact they don't even seem like bosses. Maybe they'll get harder toward the end?

The graphics though I thought are awesome, and the storyline is mildly entertaining. Since this is pretty much the only game of it's kind at launch I'll have to say it's not bad, that's it. Not great, but not too bad either.

Getting twisted around in the maps is pretty easy to do, I've found myself heading the wrong direction numerous times, a small compass in the upper left corner would have been helpful, maybe next time.

If you like these kind of games this one will probably seem boring, if you've never played a hack and slash RPG then you'll probably like it better. Easy to pick up and learn, and great varied charecters and weapons.

Ok, back to work now...

It's a game that some enjoy while other will obviously not, but isn't that the way with all games. Aside from the arduos load times I felt that this was a solid first gen game. Obviously a game for those who don't mind a dumbed down Diablo / Gauntlet game. Face it there isnt a whole lot more than trapsing around collecting and selling items in the guise of "quests". Gee, sounds like I don't like this game doesn't it but I actually enjoy it very much.

If the maps were kept in a single orientation, I'd be fine with that. I don't understand why they are rotated... it makes it very difficult to tell which direction to go when returning from a teleport.

The graphics and sound are great.... if they spent more time on the quests and plot, it would be a fantastic game.
