| Summary: Just shy of a 100
96
From my first round of golf, I knew this was a dream come true: Playing Tiger Woods PS2 style anywhere I go!
I want to mention right away, as you can read from other reviews, the load times in Tiger Woods '06 are fantastic! You'll only be waiting 5-8 seconds in between holes. This makes the game seem truly portable as you don't want to be sitting with the PSP waiting for the holes to load.
Graphics
My first impressions of the game's graphics where exceptionally high. The detail in the facial expressions of your golfer is up to par with those from the recent PS2 games. The courses are just beautiful, ranging from desert courses to island hopping in the antarctic.
One thing I did notice though, is that when you zoom down the field, the text sometimes blurs. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a wind effect or not, but it doesn't affect gameplay. Another small graphical difference in the PSP and PS2 games is that the background shrubbery and texture can be very flat, but it still looks real from a distance.
Gameplay
Tiger Woods '06 will keep you coming back for more. Unless you dislike golf completely (I'm not that much of a golf fan myself), you will be playing this for awhile. You start out at the bottom of a list of 15 golfers. You must work your way to the top by competing in six challenges for each golfer. These include tournaments (18 holes), putting frenzy mini games (new to '06), rival challenges, skin matches, etc.
I really enjoyed putting in '06 as well. If you've played '06 on any other system, it's identical. Now putting requires more of a challenge. It's not HARD by any means, but requires getting used to. You have an ideal putting line, which shows whether you have the right line or not. However, the distance and power are up to you. This "joystick putting" feature is a major plus (+) for the series, in my opinion.
You will also find ad-hoc multiplayer in '06. With up to three other friends, you can play a match, or putting frenzy. Bingo Bango Bongo has always been a favorite, and it's back from '05. Another multiplayer feature is that you can play a round with a friend on a single PSP in Party Mode. This involves passing the PSP from one to another after your turn.
Sound
The soundtrack in '06 is really my only problem. It starts off with "Stand Up" by Dave Matthews Band, but the rest of the soundtrack lacks lyrics and is more mood music. When you're actually golfing though, there is no music, so that's why I don't mind so much.
Sound effects such as swinging and striking the ball are superb. The announcing is good as well, but can get slightly repetitive after your first few rounds.
Controls
The controls in '06 are the tightest and best yet. You'll find yourself switching clubs and shot styles quite easily. There hasn't been too much of a change since '05, which I consider to be good.
If you're a sports game fan, and don't already have '05, I would highly recommend going out and getting Tiger Woods '06! A great game for quick trips and playing with friends. A must buy in my opinion.

I have 05 and find the controls to be annoying. When I swing it's very hard not to slice the shot, even though I feel like I have swung the anolog stick straight. This means you end up in the rough far too often. Are the controls a little more friendly on 06, if not I won't be buying...
