Summary: Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance to go

A surprisingly good little hack-n-slash RPG. While not as versatile as something you'd find on a PC these days, it certainly gives older fare like Diablo a run for its money. It's almost exactly like Baldur's Gate- Dark Alliance. Nice graphics, decent sound effects horrible music, and quick gameplay. It supports the PSP's ability to suspend a game and resume immediately, making it a good game for playing in small bursts when you're out. The skills and equipment systems are basic, but make it more than just a lame Diablo clone.

The bad? The aforementioned music (I turn it off), the standard nature of the gameplay (it IS only a hack-and-slash game) can't be awarded any points for originality, and it can get tedious doing the dungeon crawl things for long stretches. The game save system requires you to pause, save the game, and then continue- It desperately needs an autosave. The multiplayer loses points for only having native support for ad hoc sessions, and completely ignoring online gaming.

Final verdict? A worthwhile game, but not a real display of the PSP's power. Just a nice, simple diversion if you're into fantasy RPG games.
