Summary: A pleasant surprise

I'm completely willing to forgive Capcom for messing up their own story by leading the player into thinking that X was created as a Maverick Hunter in the opening sequences. I'm 100% willing to let that go.

Gameplay - 85
I've known Mega Man games to be challenging. But being a fan of all things Capcom, I'm used to it (or at least I should be). The game has everything you've come to expect from the Mega Man series except for the running dash. If it's there, I must not be doing something right. I'm not particularly wowed by the level design, as the opening levels are flat, and you spend most of your time jumping over ledges. But it's Mega Man. The game makes up for it.

Graphics - 98
I was pleasantly surprised. When looking at screenshots, I was disgusted by the 3D sprites as opposed to original 2D. If you did your homework, and knew a bit of history, 3D Mega Man games have failed everytime (yet somehow Mega Man Legends remains on the shelf at Blockbuster). The minute I started playing Maverick Hunter X, I couldn't stop. The graphics are just beautiful, from the enviroments to the explosions. This game works perfectly on the PSP and is a great remake.

Sound - 100
The sound is flawless. It's no Dolby Digital, but everything is crisp, even the main menu puts you back in the SNES days with nostalgic arcade compositions. I love it.

Overall
If you're like me, and had a heart attack the minute you heard Capcom was releasing a Mega Man game (and eventually Metal Slug) then you'd be a fool to not pick this game up. I was wowed. Shocked. Mystified. Trifecta. It's an excellent game, nothing for the wimpy boys who don't like a bit of arcade challenge to on their PSP's, but still worth at least renting if futuristic platformers aren't your thing (why aren't they? WHY?). Get Mega Man.

How does an 85 Gameplay, 98 Graphics and 100 Sound give you an overall of 98?

soundtrack in snes was much better, boss/weapon intros rnt as good, as well as X. The fact that he has time to yell out the weapon in the middle of a boss fight is hilarious, backround graphics seemed to improve(not that graphics should matter at all, i luv 2d or cel-shaded), but gameplay was stil as good -i just wish they didnt make it as easy, vile mode was hardcore though, id recommend this 4 any veteran rockman x fans.

wait.. all the dialogue's different... eh? lol
