The PSP is constantly thrown rushed ports of games, simply to make quick money or just because developers consider the PSP a side project with little consideration, but as March 14th hits, a slew of great games are coming out, and are also waiting to be released.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is incredible, hands down. The presentation, the story, the graphics, the sound, the everything about this game is just about perfect for a third-person shooter, and it gets just about everything right that other shooters such as SOCOM or Infected missed along the way of production.
One of the first things you'll notice are the controls. Using the analog nub to move around and the four face buttons to look around may seem a bit strange at first, but after 5 minutes, it feels just as natural as a second analog stick on the PS2. Are is used to shoot, and L is used to lock on to an enemy or zoom in. In fact, Syphon Filter's controls are SO much better than SOCOM. They get the sniping perfectly with the ease of holding down the L button, and the four directional buttons are used to crouch, change weapons, change gadgets, and to reload/climb objects. If you don't like this control scheme, many more presets are there for you to pick out.
The graphics come extremely close to any next gen console game out there, and it really is a pretty game. From shadows, to the breath of your character in the cold night, it truly looks fantastic, and I don't think much more needs to be said about the graphics. Trust me, you'll love how this game looks, I guarantee it.
The sound is magnificent as well, and a professional orchestra with an original soundtrack gets the dramatic feel for this game precisely so you feel like your in your own action movie. If you remember the original Syphon Filter's score, then consider this one too.
The single player campaign will take you 10-13 hours or so, depending on your skill and difficulty level. While its not too long of a campaign, its also built for on the go play, so remember that. However, the story gets back to its roots from the original, none of that cheesy "Omega Strain" stuff written a while back. The character's share detailed story lines, and occasionally you'll switch characters to see each point of view at the time of the story. This may just be the best storyline in any PSP game yet to date.
With online play, you can either be stealthy, or just run and gun as you play in 1-8 player matches. While this isn't a 16 player game, its still a fantastic experience, hiding behind walls an shooting down your enemies in sight. Think Counter Strike, but in third person. You'll love being the king of headshots . The lag handles much better than SOCOM, and this game will run at an extremely smooth rate if you've ever been frustrated with lag. I'd consider this a much more tense experience than what SOCOM may give you, yet I'll leave that for you to decide.
So whether you love the old Syphon Filter or don't know it at all, Dark Mirror returns to its original roots once again and showers them with a gameplay experience that can't be compared on the PSP. Its fast paced, its exciting, its an involving story, and you'll be sucked in so fast you'll find it hard to put this game down. For single player and online, this is just an incredible experience you'll love for weeks to come, so trust me on this one. You're gonna love Dark Mirror. Its everything a PSP game package should come with

the review in gamespot mentions: The Bad: Campaign is fairly short; guns sound like weak toys.

The sound is excellent, trust me. People don't realize that the signature thing about Syphon is how the guns are all so unique, especially with sound. A lot of them are loud and scary :-D.
By the way, you can also unlock weapons and etc while online as your rank goes up. Its an awesome system. You can unlock the tazer

I consider SOCOM to be great, but it doesn't give me the thrill that Syphon does. The controls, story, and graphics are enough to make it my favorite game for the PSP so far

lol A computer might be hard to bring on the road.... and a second nub would be nice, but for the time being, these controls rock, seriously! You'll love it in time

The aim is is great. Not too sensitive. I believe you can even change the sensitivity of it even, but the aim is nearly perfect as for as context goes
