For all those hard-core arcade racing fanatics who have come to love the Tokyo Xtreme Racing series for the PS2, this is the PSP version of just that. The game takes place on the highways of TOKYO, which is modeled in pretty sweet detail. Gameplay is different from the originals in that you cannot just drive around and begin battling by "flashing" or "shining your brights," rather you must now choose where to race and select the opponent. The upside is that you don't have to spend a half an hour searching for the others to race against, but the more intrusive downside is that you don't get a feel for the ride before racing others, so you must learn the car as you race.
There are plenty of rivals, and rival gangs, and there is a more detailed story in this version than in previous versions. It used to be that you would be taking on all of the gangs alone, now you must select a gang and work your way up the ranks by defeating them in race battles.
Gameplay can be very fast or very nerve-wracking during a race, but therein lies all of the excitement. The battle system is set much like a fighting game. Both racers have an "energy bar" and it will diminish as you are trailing in the race, or you hit something.
This is a great series that offers a ton of gameplay. If you have played Tokyo Xtreme Racer before, then this is another must have.

I believe that the "people", as in us, are the most important in giving opinions on games. But............for a good laugh, look at the IGN review of this game. (I'm not saying this is a bad game.) Good review.

Yeah I had the Japanese version, Shutokou Battle on PSP. Once I played 5 minutes of it, I sold it right away. It really sux. It's like your driving a sleigh and the car physics is so unrealistic. The IGN review is right on the money.

And in response i would offer that they are not jugding it properly...i mean the physics are fine especially if you consider the highways and not roads, not to mention that these are the same people that rank games like NFS and Midnight club highly and those driving sims are physically similar, so i would nullify their review! Also notice that the game is rated a 7.2 by the consumers, which is significantly higher than their review.edited: Mar 07 2006
