The case is made up of the front face and the back face, the bottom is left completely exposed. When I first got it, it was much flimsier than I thought, provides convenient UMD Access when you clip open the case (back opens first, front is held by two nubs in the top). When you close it and use the PSP, there is no screen distortion when you play. The back is fully protected, so you won't have to worry about scratching the metal ring in the rear of the console.
It's made of polycarbonate, so it scratches easily. I wiped it once with a microfiber cloth and received a huge swirl as my gift. Then again, my PGP was polycarbonate, and that case is swirled(scratched) like there's no tommorow.
Questions I asked, but were never answered (hopefully these help):
Does it have adequate protection?
If you're looking for PGP-like protection then no, leaves many parts of the PSP exposed, mostly those essentials (ie headphones, A/C, USB).
Will it be effected by shock if I drop it?
Probably, seeing how there's nothing to ultimately seal the PSP within the case while playing it closed.
How thick is it?
It adds a barely noticeable amount of bulk to the system, probably not even half a centimeter, so you won't need to worry about that.
Being a PGP owner, I'm happy about reducing the weight and width of the system, and still getting adequate protection. The quality of this item is excellent, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for lightweight, mild protection, this is your best bet and bang for the buck.
