Let me just start by saying, this is a very enjoyable game. It's a Metal Gear Gaiden. It starts out the same way that ghost babel does, telling you that Snake is a retired mercenary and such.
The graphics are great. Models are on par with, if not better than, any PS2 game. Very reminiscent of MGS2, really. The frame rate is very smooth and solid, but gets a bit choppy when there are many enemies on screen. The new, darker feel of the artwork is very appropriate for the music. The mood is simply in sync.
The gameplay is pretty solid. Most of the actions available in the MGS games are available in this game, through a more basic and turn-based system. Some elements were taken out of hte game that were in the MGS series, however. Such as choking enemies, hiding bodies, making others surrender, gadgets(listener, radar, etc.) For action gamers, though, the gameplay may be found boring and frustrating because of the focus on strategy on a larger emphasis on stealth.
The game's sound is probably the only flawless thing in it. The sound effects are on par with MEtal Gear Solid and the music is BETTER! The Holiwood feel of the audio simply fits. The alert music makes my heart jump and the normal environment music gives of an aroma of mystery and eerieness.
The overall verdict of MGA is, GOOD BUT NOT GREAT. The gameplay is not focused towards all tastes of gameplay and is very controlled and limited. Once a turn is made, there's no taking it back. STRICTLY for those who read, and have a high mental capacity.
