Recently a reviewer compared this game to Ridge Racer, and he complained that the graphics were okay along with the gameplay, the controls sucked, and the only reason that people hailed this game is because of the web browser hack. This is ABSOLUTELY incorrect, and any true gamer willing to spend some time with one of the best PSP games to date will find an incredible racing experience right in Wipeout Pure.
The Graphics are excellent, and anyone who tells you otherwise has an eye problem, especially the level designs. Sometimes you get so involved with the designs of the levels that you forget that you're still racing. Thats how great this game looks, and the ship designs are also a great example of this. The remade classic levels from previous Wipeout games are amazing, with all the ships getting redesigned along with the levels.
The soundtrack and sounds keep you really involved in the game, and the sounds of missiles flying from each vehicle are precise as well as really really cool. You can even select or deselect the songs you want to hear during the races.
Wipeout also has downloadable soundtracks in the making for users to download, and a number of skins, tracks, and vehicles for them to download also, all of which are nice touches to gameplay and replayability.
Please, don't compare this game to Ridge Racer. It's also a great game but Wipeout is completely different, and great in its own way also. Any fan of racing games or action games for that matter will have a blast with Wipeout, literally.
