Summary: Incredible remake

Mega Man was a revolutionary series that started off with the original Mega Man series, and branching off into other series such as Mega Man Exe, and of course, the more adult themed and faster paced Mega Man X. This remake brings back all the great bits of the original along with upgrades in detail, and adds a ton of extras just to make it all more worth your time.

Now, don't take this game as just another port of an old side scroller. Mega Man X Maverick Hunter retains nearly everything from the original Mega Man X game, but this time around adds 3-D to the graphics (the backgrounds particularly being incredibly detailed). Not only this, the characters are all given voice acting and script, adding some more life to the game as a whole. Not only this, if you're a big Mega Man fan, the storyline has been given much more detail, with Vile and Sigma given details on how they became Mavericks, and what their intentions are.

The gameplay is still in tact, and the control scheme along with it. The port of the controls is done perfectly, and even for the secret character Vile the controls are done nicely. Load times are hardly noticeable, and you'll be blasting your way through levels in a amtter of seconds. The voice acting is definitely a nice touch to the game, although it is that B voice acting that you often find in Capcom games. This, however, hardly affects the outcome of your performance, although sound would be the weakpoint of this game. Some players complain that this game is too short, yet I disagree. The extras make this game a much more lasting and replayable game than the original, and gamers will come to respect this.

The extras include a demo of the upcoming Mega Man Power Up game, a 20 min movie on how Sigma became the Maverick he is, and Vile as a secret player, something all players of this game will come to enjoy.

Whether you know the series or not, Mega Man X Maverick Hunter is definitely worth the money, and it's certainly one of the best looking PSP games out there even IF its a side scroller. Trust me, you'll love it.

This game is great. Graphics are awsome and could bring on a whole new genre of games. I would love to see a few more remakes done the same way. I also have to give Gamestop an A++ for the 29.99 pricetag. A crop of games at that price would definately benefit the PSP. I love this GAME!!!!

ive played it on the Sega, this should be a good game. But I agree that the games on the PSP are way too short. They cant put more than that on those UMDs

I agree with everything yall said. This game is great, it's worth $30 or more. I think this is just the beginning of Megaman on psp. I think they should make a megaman nt warrior game on psp as long as its not like the one on gba, make ur own netnavi, and fight others online, kinda like PSO.

The size of game has absolutely nothing to do with the size of a UMD disc (1.8 gig is a huge size for a portable game). It's down to the developers as to how big they make the game.

X = Jump Circle/Double tap analog or d pad = Dash Square = Shot/Equipped Weapon Triangle = Single shot L/R = Weapon selection, etc etc. The analog and d pad have the same functions for moving.

I don't get the hype behind this game or I should say the Mega Man cult hero status. I bought this game because it was getting pretty decent reviews and I had heard soooo much about Mega Man games being the end all, be all of side scrolling games and I hated it!

I admit I am setting myself up to get royally flamed by all the Mega Man junkies out there, but, here are my problems You can't squat or look/shoot up or down. There is no score so there is no reason why you couldn't just run right to the boss and finish the level. The difficulty level is insane ... if you decide that you want to fight stuff.

This game is not for me. I had never played any Mega Man games before and this experience will be my last. I'll take a Sonic or Crash game any day over this ... my $0.02.

mdhegs, I understand your hangups, but this is how Mega Man has always been. Anyone not familiar with the series would probably not "get it" But the difficulty level is not too bad. Thing is each boss is vulnerable to a specific weapon so once you find out which one you can beat w/your default gun you have to find out who can be beaten w/your newly acquired one

Yeah mdhegs this game is about reflexes. You have to jump and dash to avoid attacks, and thats harder than just ducking away at shots. What fun would that be? Also, the difficulty isn't so bad if you start getting good at this game. A game like Megaman Zero for the gameboy has a much higher learning curve.
