Sandisk are one of the best makers of storage cards and sticks in he world. So when i got my MS duo pro 512mb I wasnt suprised at the quality of it. The memory stick (MS) I got cost me £40 ($75), the price of these is falling and sandisk have recently lowered the prices of their MS but you should expect to pay around $60-80 for one of these cards. The card came with a MS adapater so if you have another device that uses normal MS then you can use this and also the adapater allows the MS to fit in the the card reader I have.
The card is stated as 512MB however this is not comparable to 512mb of your computer storage. This is because computers have a MB as 1024 kb but the MS has a Mb as 1000kb. So the storage you have is around 470mb.
This is still a large ammount of storage. The transfere of data to the MS is fast and a movie of 400MB will take around 1minute to transfere on to the card.
I would recomend you to buy one of these, if you want to watch movies , listen to your music or show off your photos. If you want to have all your music and a movie on the stick at once i would get a 1GB MS but this stick is fine for a movie and an album or two.

I have this card and it's available space is actually 467MB which is still great. I put the full movie Spaceballs on the card at great quality using PSP Video 9 and still have 37MB's left for my save games. It's really a great deal...I got mine for 60 bucks at Best Buy 2 weeks ago cause they had a 10 mail in rebate. A Great deal if I do say so myself...However one warning about buying things at Best Buy I was in the store and the sales man was selling a PSP to a lady for her kid, he said you should get the 1GB stick for 150 bucks...I said why not get the 512MB for 60 bucks...the sales man said "Oh those don't work in the PSP's they won't work, they have to be specifically for PSP" I disagreed with him and advised him that my friend had bought one last night and that MS Duo is MS Duo he argued with me and was just trying to make the sale...It was pretty bogus so buyer beware of Best Buy salesmen.
See ya later all...

Shatterbox,
You can blame Sandisk for the action of the salesman, I'm sure he received the same information I did as a Salesman at Best Buy. We were given a memo that stated that the memory stick duo had to state (compatible with PSP) on the packaging otherwise it would not be compatible. As it turns out this is not the case. But based on the information he had, he was doing what he thought was correct. There are 128, 256, 512, and 1gb also made by sandisk that say PSP compatible on the packaging. We carry both types at Best Buy.

i got the same problem xacto. it doesnt bother me much considering i only have 1 game, but after i get a few it might be nice to look thru it and see what games are hogging up space, and if you dont need all the saves in there.

I waiting for the 1gb to come down in price, dell has got one for 95 bucks, 30 more than the 512 for twice the space

I can not run any movies as well... since it can not see any files in the main menu! I formated it 3 times now. Guess it REALLY is not compatable after all.

I bought one of these too so I can fit a full movie on(which it does perfectly) and it works great. The problem for that one guy who doesn't see it is either he's not putting it in the MP_ROOT/100MNV01/ folder or he hasn't formatted the card. I let the psp format the card so it would be compatible for sure. Although I know the psp can read fat32, with it formatted in fat16 it should be what the psp likes more. Needless to say, this card is nice. I've put 2 episodes of Lost and an episode of South Park on the 512 card and still had room for saves and pictures.

Can anyone point me towards the cheapest 1gb memory stick out there? its a tough request , but if you happen to know of some website or w.e that sells them under the average price it would be greatly appreciated by the rest of the forum people.

My advice is to not get a 1GB card yet. Get a 512mb- it's plenty for a DVD or a bunch of pictures or songs. I fit Star Wars: A New Hope DVD version on my 512mb with room to spare, and it looks surprisingly good. Use the 512mb and wait for the 2GB to be released.
Full length movie settings?
I use 320x240/29.97fps/QB4 Stereo/96kbps for widescreen movies, and if it's a long one I knock it down a bit, changing the audio to 80kbps or switching to mono if absolutely necessary (so far, it isn't).
The trick is to use a good DVD ripper that will reduce the file size of your VOBs. I use DVD2One (Mac) or 123 Copy DVD (PC) and tell it to reduce the DVD to around 2GB. Then, when you use PSP Video 9 or whatever other program to convert to MP4, you get a file that's roughly 500mb.
"123 Copy DVD" can be found for around $29 from most software stores. To rip DVD movies with it, you need to download a patch. It works a lot better than the freeware and pireated junk on the web. DVD2One is better, though- Simply because the quality of the final product is higher, you have more control, and it's much faster.

Oh, yeah...
For TRANSFERRING your mp4 movies to the PSP, I highly recommend getting kaisakura's 'iPSP' program. link
It's worth it. I use iPSP to manage my saved games, transfer music, pictures, and movies to the PSP, and to convert videos to PSP format. It works flawlessly with iTunes, so I can keep my music library in AAC format (although mine are all unprotected now) and then transfer over to MP3 on the PSP in a smaller bitrate without converting the library itself.
Get it. It's the best PSP transfer program out there.

Hmm... Movies, music, photos and gamesaves are all normal on mine(512) FYI. Make sure you're formatting it in the PSP and not the PC just in case.
As for 1GB sticks - use link in conjunction with link.

I've just bought the 512 sandisk but can't get it to work. I used to use a card reader for my original 32MB card, but the card reader won't read my sandisk. It says it needs to be formated, so when i click format it says 'this disk cannot be formated'!?!
is there anyway to format my card without buying a cable directly to my psp? can anybody help? thnx
