| Summary: Good for movies, but not great for games

LoveFilm is the 'market darling' of DVD rental services, with link-ups ranging from Shell to Sony and a massive user base. They recently announced they were adding PSP UMDs to their list of available titles, so I dipped my toe in and had a dabble.
As with all these services, you pay a monthly subscription in order to be allowed to take out anything from 1 to several titles at any one time. There is no penalty for late returns, since you can keep them as long as you like, but to hire out more than one title at a time, your subscription goes up in price.
The service itself was fine, but the 'personal touch' is missing from LoveFilm's offerings (in comparison with GameTart, at any rate). I guess that's a problem when you're growing at the size of operations like LoveFilm, who are undoubtedly doing great business.
Pros
If you want to rent movies, go to LoveFilm. They have a wide selection on DVD and UMD titles to choose from, so you'll not be disappointed.
Price is not bad in comparison with Blockbuster, Amazon.co.uk, Tesco and other services. I can't comment on US operations like NetFlix. Film tariffs ranging from £9.99 for 1 disk at a time, to £14.99 for 3 disks at a time, and combination game/film tariffs from £12.99 to £19.99 per month. There's a 14-day free trial when you sign up.
Their 'traffic light' system of telling you about the availability of certain games is nice, but see below for the downside.
Cons
I found the availability of UMD games very poor. They didn't have the latest titles and what they did have didn't arrive very quickly. The traffic lights were pretty much always amber or red, so although a nice idea, they don't seem to have put the stock behind the PSP games to back up the service.
If you want them to text you when they've sent out a title to you, it'll cost you to receive the text. Also, they're not clear about forthcoming titles and the ability to reserve them.
Overall
All in all, LoveFilm is fine is you love films, but if you want to rent PSP games and save a bundle on buying them, go read my review of GameTart.com and sign up with them instead!
