A little while ago, I laid eyes on a UMD box of "Lost." I was intrigued as I'd never seen a TV show out on UMD previously. Then I read "Pilot" and I was completely turned off. I walked away. Because I thought it was stupid to have an incomplete season for almost $20.
Then the other day, while Post-Christmas shopping, I noticed a Family Guy UMD box that looked like the Volume one DVD box set. But I assumed it was the pilot or a few episodes, until I read the box and discovered it was a 5 disc set with all season 1 and 2 episodes. And all for around $30.
It's truly a bargain. 23 Family Guy episodes for $30? That's pretty cheap. It's cheaper than buying 23 episodes of a TV show on iTunes. And it's on the go.
The show as everyone knows is, well hilarious. And for those of us who either don't have the box set or don't watch Family Guy on TV due to lack of cable (of course, FOX plays the new ones), it's a steal. It's Family Guy on-the-go and it's in great clarity and sound.
My one complaint is the awful box design. It's basically cheap cardboard with even cheaper foam. This could have easily been prevented with a higher-quality Cardboard slip-over cover (like many DVDs have nowadays) with a plastic inside that could hold the discs much better.
But you can't judge a book by its cover and you can't judge a show by its case design. It's a drawback but it's nothing that prevents the UMDs themselves from being spectacular.
This is a MUST BUY for any Family Guy fan.
