With the recent launch of the psp, Ape Escape on the Loose trailed behind compared to the likes of Lumines and Ridge Racer. However I must say that Ape Escape can be just as enjoyable if it werent for the laggy load times, wierd controls, and once again LAGGY LOAD TIMES. At certain points I thought my psp had froze. Well anyways Ape Escape as you may have already known is a platform, in which the goal of the game is to capture as many apes as you can in order to prevent the change of history.
The plot itself is simple enough, and therefore the game is quite simple as well. The controls of the game rely heavily on the analog stick. In which this stick controls your net or weapon. It may seem quite awkard to use at first, but after a few hours of gameplay it may become second nature.
Another thing that I noticed was that the graphics of this game are decent. I believe that with the horsepower the psp is packed with, develepors in the future will be able to take full advanatge of psp graphics wise. If you have ever seen Ape Escape of the PS1, than the psp version has the same look and vibe.
Along with the a main game lies a mini games section, in which you must unlock thoughout the course of the game. The mini games include games like boxing, ping pong and etc. This was a nice touch to the overall game.
I would give this game a 8/10 for an overall fun factor. Ape Escape is very entertaining, despite the long load times. However if you are in the market for a good, fun platform, than Ape Escape it is!
