This is Sam Raimi's directorial debut, and you can tell. The direction is pretty horrible, the acting - just as horrible, the dialogue cheesy, the film looks incredibly low budget, and those are the reasons why I love this film. The film relies more on creepiness than just bloodspray, but there is enough gore for those of you blood thristy types. A bit slow at times, but once the fun gets started, it doesn't stop. This movie isn't for everyone though. If the name BRUCE CAMPBELL just means batman's first name followed by a brand of soup to you, you probably won't like it.

The UMD is horrible. It doesn't even come with subtitles which is a must for this film. I was watching this with my headphones on, full volume, +2, IN A LIBRARY, and I still missed a few things. There is no scene selection either. The menu screen consists of only one option - "Play Movie." The video transfer is decent though. Unless you're a fan of this movie or Bruce Campbell, get the DVD instead.
