Just to make this clear, don't expect this game to be exactly like the PC/console version. Need for Speed 5-1-0 is a dumbed down version of its big brother.

This wouldn't necessarity be a bad thing. The simplicity of the game allows you to pick it up and play a quick race or two. The audio and graphics are great, the controls are decent, and the ability to customize is addicting. There is no free roaming but all the race types are built for a fixed track. The first few "chapters" as they are called in career mode are easy and they allow you to get the hang of your car and some of the courses. Make sure you find all of the shortcuts and always do the police outrun bonus. At this point, I would consider this a good game but there are several things about the game that take away from the overall experience.

The police barriers are simply a few police cars with yellow fences around them. They're pretty easy to avoid as long as you see them in advance. If you happen to hit one, its like hitting a brick wall. It hardly budges and you end up maneuvering around them. I use them to lose police and opponents by "luring" them into it. This works well early on but doesn't later in the game for reasons listed below.

NOS needs an upgrade. Upgrading your NOS only seems to lengthen its duration. The actual boost you get is barely noticable. The only time I use it is to avoid being rammed by police.

The Super Police. This is the biggest annoyance of the game. Forget the opponents, all I'm worried about whenever I race is to avoid being rammed by the police. I save my NOS for the police. If they get near me, I'll use my NOS to get ahead. Unfortunately, the police catch up in a second and you have to constantly use your NOS to avoid being rammed off the road. The best way to lose police is to lure them into police barracades or other cars. Practice near misses with cars and barracades as they have a higher likelyhood of crashing into them. Now, you'd expect that they're out of comission or far behind you when they crash, but they manage to catch up with you in a few seconds. Police have super acceleration, super handling, and weigh as much as a tank. If a police wants you off the road, it will get you off the road which is why the only thing you can do is hope it crashes or you use NOS. And nevermind that you're in 4th place. The police will pester you regardless of your position.

How far have you gotten in the game? I am at the 8th level, I think, where the 1st and 3rd race is a timed event, 35% of the game complete, but can't get past the time trials. If you are beyond that can you post a Game Save to help me out?
Thanks in advance!

Don't know if it'll work, but in NFS Hot Pursuit 2, you can spin cops out by a good side push on their rear quarter panels. Otherwise they box you in, and if the car stops, you're busted. :/
