I was severaly disappointed with this out of box. It's choppy at times and the controls were insane, until I switched to "basic" then things got fun quickly.

Playability
It's weird at first, you'll be saying "oh look! I'm Boba Fett! Oh wait, Boba's dead already!?" Playing it took some getting used to but after a few hours it's really fun and quite intuitive.

Load Times
Eh, I've seen worse. I'd say probably 30 seconds between loads, maybe a minute, sometimes.

Graphics
I don't think they took full advantage of the PSP, I was wishing for a little more streamlined graphics, but I wasn't complaining too much. Darth did look a little thin though.

Sound
It's John Williams music, you've heard it for 20+ years now, of course it's great.

Overall Value
The replay on this is what's great and it's fun once you get into it but it was that learning curve that was tough at first. I think I played for about four hours tonight and made myself put it down just so I could get some sleep.

Hot Buy or Midnight Rental?
I'd say if you are a Star Wars fan and like to try out all the characters of the SW Universe, then yes, buy this game. I'm giving it a B+ because of the replay factor, if it weren't for that, I'd probably only give it a C if that.

there are instant battles which are really fun. I was Grevious last night and he rocks. It's pretty scary to be the rebel force and you run up against Darth Vader down a corridor. That was freaky.

Dogfights are pleasantly long and you actually feel like you are there (like if you're trying to take out a Star Destroyer...you're constantly worried about Tie Fighters taking you out).

you can be the whole droid race and they are hella fun...especially the battle droids

it seems more like a battlefield game than anything else, where you have to capture control points and what not. it seems pretty cool, but i still want to know how in depth fighting as a jedi and flying in space is. do the jedi have a basic single attack and force power attack, are they fast and can they jump high and all that good stuff? and are the space fighters equipped with lock on rockets and shields and all that other good stuff? anyways, i kind of want to get this for my November game, but the matrix path of neo for PS2 is looking pretty awesome too. oh well, maybe i'll get both if swbf II gets more good reviews.

Fighting as a Jedi. I've only done in it Galatic Battles and basically you lead a team against the opposing team...so there is like a million things going on at once. So I was playing at Hoth and I had Luke...he's running around on a taun taun..he gets off and see's vader in an AT AT machine (no lie) and so he runs and gets into his speeder and shoots him down...except that vader jumps out...so I get luke to jump out and you can do force pulls, high jumps, light saber throws. Vader almost beat me but a wookie shot him down

space fighters. not only can you do lock on rockets...but you can BE the rocket if you want and guide the missle whever you want (as long as someone doesn't shoot your spaceship or it slams into another one). Sheilds work well, it's a bitch to get them down on the cruisers/carriers

Does this help?

the ign review made me not so excited about it, it seemed to say that it doesnt match up to the console versions because of difficult controls and repetitive gameplay. is it still worth getting? it does sound pretty good the way you put it so this is a tough one. i dont think its at blockbuster yet so i'm hesitant to just go out and buy it.

Agent and Nana,

GTA is sitting collecting dust while I'm playing this. I do find SOME of it repetitive however so is GTA in that manner. The dogfights, I find, are not as fun as the ground battles (mainly because they get tedious and difficult). But it's may appear to be the same ol thing soon...you know...whoop it out in space, blow up the destroyer...win. But the last space battle I had I found myself going back to the cruiser, getting a new ship and going out to fight...that was fun.

If I understand correctly you can dock on the enemy's ship and then unload a bunch of warriors in there to lay waste.

but like I've said a bunch on this thread...you might want to rent it before hand. I've said this many times...I'm a casual gamer and my standards are going to be different than others.

yeah, so i found out my local blockbuster got this in today. it was definately a rental for me. i consider myself a pretty big star wars fan(no i dont wait in long lines for movies, and i didnt care for any of the new ones) but while this game does have a nice star wars feel with the settings and the music, it just wasnt enough.

i've been playing it for a few hours and even though i'm mildy having fun with it, the controls, the aiming scheme, and the battles feel very repetitive. i suppose i could vary it up a little in what i play, but the space fights are pretty easy using the bombers to continually bomb all the different parts of the ship, and the ground fights well, they're just ok.

i think it also has something to do with the weapons, where as they dont seem very destructive and you end up blasting away at the at-ats forever using the little hoth jet. i enjoyed playing the jedi(only luke so far) but the controls almost seem too fast to control them accurately. they are still pretty fun

as a fairly big star wars fan, i enjoy playing a star wars game for the star wars content, but beyond that, i dont think this game offers what i need in a truly enjoyable game. maybe the console counterparts would be a little better. i think i'd actually prefer a game playing mostly if not always as a jedi. i want more jedi content with more moves and force powers and less playing as rebel or imperial troops. although i do like boba and jango which would also be funner then just troopers. its not a bad game, but its also not a great game. if i had to rate in on the few hours i've played so far, it would probably be a 70 at very best if even that. while i will play it until my rental time with it is up, i think i still prefer gta to it by far. now a jedi knight game on psp(not a port of JK:O or JK:A) would be awesome or even a boba fett game(nothing like bounty hunter though

o btw, the graphics although not great are nice to look at and the star wars feel with all the maps, music, and sound efx are all there for your enjoyment, it really does take you back to parts of the movie. thats about it so far though. i'll keep playing it, maybe i'll get more of an appreciation for it as i go.
