This game remind me of the old NES/SNES classic Super Punchout. It plays about the same (it isn't a free roaming fighter). You hit with punch right or left and leg right or left, you dodge with the d-pad just like in super punchout. There are a couple of super moves and throws as well.
The main interest I had in the game is seeing if they screwed up that money gambling thing. I gotta say it's pretty cool though. It's about making the crowd believe you're going to loose, then place your bets after 50 sec of faking and start your come back. All of that without losing too much to avoid making the crowd supsicious. You can also fake to take a punch harder so the crowd places bets agaisnt you and then come back. Well that wasnt a really good description but that's about it.
Another point of interest in the game is the customization. At first I was disapointed by the number of options. I finnaly ended up with a pretty decent character. And I kept upgradin my style by buying new items in the shop.
After a couple of fights (and killing your female manager) you get to start your own crew. This takes place by choosing 2 character in a lineup of randomized characters. You can also customize your combos which is a pretty nice feature. Simple but it works for me.
Another important part of the customisation is leveling up your basic attribute. You do that by selecting which kind of training you want to do before your next fight. For exemple I have 6 weeks before the fight, then i'll have 6 training sessions (which can also be rest time or hospital visit). Each choice I make enhaces some attribute and reduces another so you'll have to balance things out. But don't worry, it's simple enough.
I have to say I really like this game. It has a nice Punchout flavor with great customisation options and a nice little story mode. Maybe a rent first for some gamers due to its originality and its one dimensional (only fighting) style. I haven't tried multiplayer, but if you can bet money it'll be a load of fun I'm sure. And if your the kind to worry about graphics, they're pretty damn good.
I want to congratulate the developers for creating an innovative game! I give this game a 90 but with a warning: not for every gamer.
Well the betting Idea is well executed... Well its seems kinda hard to take a illegal gambling and try to make it as a gameplay element (this is well done). Rent it first though you might not like.
I have figured out the pattern" $40 for OK games, $50 Great games. For example, The Con = OK game = $40, X-Men = Great Game = $50. Right??? I am sooo smart.

I dont think this is an ok game thoug, I think either like me your gonna like it a lot.Either and prolly the majority hwo havent played any step figther game in the past you will be disapointed by what seems to be a weird system. Well I may be wrong...
i would only get this if I had a buddy to multiplayer with . .I dont like fighhting games that are only singleplayer weither it be because of the devolopesr or because of friends reluctant to buy a psp lol. bought a xmen legends II today and havent played it yet though . I will give a review after I played it a few minutes.
why is this game on front of the website ??? its a bad game just by looking at it, ---> makeing this game so big and acting like its one of the best game ............like if it was GTA the game looks bad and its a fighting so that says it wil not be a good game. looks like a waste of time money.......

But I got to say the multiplayer deceived me (they didnt include the money system). Im totaly you dragoon I play fighter for multiplay. However the fresh gameplay and inovative rpg feature kept me hook on the single....
im impressed by this game, normally im bored of beat em ups withing 10 minutes, but the betting idea adds a new twist, seeing how long you can fake getting beaten up, then coming back and storming it to take the money. Nice review, 90% is a bit high, id give 75%. Dunno how long it will last tho, prob long enough till pro evo is released!
Yea I know 90% is high but I wanted ppl to take a look instead of just saying it was sh*t. Nyway Multiplayer sucks (no money exchange) wich make me lower the note even a little more. this game would be at its place if the ranked team where online players...
75% seems a good note Its a good game but need work on the Multiplayer.
