This game really does make so much improvement over its predecesor. Just to quickly recap, the original FIFA Soccer for the PSP had a few floors the most obvious being extreme lag in gameplay which really did make the whole experience very frustrating. You would also find the game pausing for a second or two everytime the ball went out of play.

Well I can now say to you all that this new version of FIFA 2006 does away with all this irritable lag and pausing and comes up trumps as my favourite game in my collection.

First thing you will notice is that the controls are slightly different but to the users advantage. Done away with is the first touch using the direction pad. Now you need to puch the L button and use the analogue stick to perform first touches. Also while running with the ball you can now perform step overs etc using the analogue stick.

This definately makes the whole playing experience much more intense and enjoyable. This time around you actually have to think about how your approaching the game, think about how your going to attack your opponants. You can't dribble the ball past 4 defenders and slot the ball home. You need to use your men, all eleven of them.

The player animation is better and more realistic as is the ball physics. Graphically the game is the same apart from a few very subtle but much improved. For example you will see cameras flashing in the stands and the crowd looks like they are moving a lot more and actually enjoying the game.

There is your usual Season modes, challenge mode and all that but something they have added this year is juggling. This is a mini game where you will need to turn your PSP on a 90 degree angle with the direction pad at the bottom. You will then select a player and he will appear in front of you kicking the ball up in the air with feet and head and it's your job to keep it in the air for as long as possible pressing the corresponding button that appears on the screen.

To sum things up this game is a breath of fresh air to any soccer fan out there. A game that I know for a fact I will enjoy for a long time. I could go on but in all honesty I would go out and get this.

i agree with your review. the first fifa was unplayable due the slowness and the pauses, but 2006 has fixed that and this game is amazing. add the ability to play online and it is definitely worth the 93 you gave it.

bigstu - no I think that is a result of the UMD drive's slow seek time. The developers have to find ways to mask the effect through optimization. That is what the developers at Rockstar Games stated.
