Summary: A Soft Case, With Space.... The Pelican Road Pak

This product pack from Pelican has quite a number of different accessories contained within, which I shall go over in a moment.

In addition, to the case itself, which is constructed of nylon, and has a lot, and I mean lot of room for many items one may wish to carry with them The kit also comes with the following:
• Power Brick external recharging battery pack provides enough juice, when fully charged, to recharge your PSP up to two times
• S Power Brick external recharging battery pack provides enough juice, when fully charged, to recharge your PSP up to two times
• Ear buds which deliver good sound quality.
• Car charger will recharge your PSP in two hours
• Six UMD disc jackets protect the exposed read windows on your game and movie discs
• A polish cloth to keep your PSP fingerprint, and dust free.
• A carry strap.
The case itself as I described before is made of nylon, and is dual-tone in blue, and black. It has a main compartment which holds the PSP, Power Brick, Car Charger, and Ear Buds. Like the Hip Gear case I reviewed earlier, Pelican also chose to use a molded plastic insert here. However, the difference here is that Pelican did go the extra step and covered the plastic with a felt lining. I still would prefer molded foam, but it is a step up.

There is a padded cover that then comes down over this compartment which will also help protect the PSP from jars, and bumps. The cover is held in place by Velcro, and when open, you will find another area which can hold up to 10 UMD discs in their protective holders, each in their own little spot. There are also two more little slots which you can store the polish cloth in, and one more for whatever you can fit in there.

In the front, is yet another dual zipper affair which when unzipped gives access to yet more storage? It could hold numerous items, as an example to its size, the PSP manual would easily fit in there, with room to spare. Inside this compartment is also another nylon netting compartment which you could place some items in.

Now, some who own this product might think that’s the end of all the space… However, remove the entire molded compartment that the PSP sits in, and underneath you will find yet one more area, which has nylon net, in which one could place something else in.

The Power Brick basically gives you the ability to re-charge your PSP a full two times, if you ever find yourself not near an outlet, or don’t have the charger with you.

The enclosed ear buds, are of good quality. I really like the ones that came with my Creative MP3 player, and while these still don’t match up to those… they are better than others I have heard.

Car Charger is pretty self-explanatory… it will recharge the PSP in approximately two hours.

The colourful UMD disc holders this comes with are the slide-in type, not clamshell. They will work, however many report with the slide-in type, that you will put slight scratches on the back of your UMD. It certainly won’t affect the UMD in anyway, other than cosmetic.

The polish cloth is your basic polish cloth found in other Pelican products. It’s a little smaller in overall size than the one the PSP shipped with. I would like to see bigger polish cloths.

Carry Strap: If you wish to carry this other than by the handle on it, you could always attach this, and sling it over your shoulder.

So there you have it. It’s a solid case, with a decent amount of goodies, and space to carry extra items. For the money a pretty good buy, as the Power Brick alone is approximately 20.00.

Things that would make it even nicer… I would like it if the case itself were made of leather (of course that would raise the price) and would also appreciate if the inner most compartment where the PSP resides, was made of molded foam.
