Well considering that Burnout has been receiving consistently higher REVIEWS than GripShift, I am not sure that your point is valid.
However, it is true, that GripShift is receiving fantastic user reviews. Some people are even feeling so compelled by the game that they are wanting to go out and share their great experiences with others.
And as for unoriginal gameplay:
unoriginal
adj : not original; not being or productive of something fresh and unusual
With Burnout being the 4th title in a series with very little high end changes to gameplay (you drive fast, you crash) and GripShift being an original IP created solely for the PSP - I think being unoriginal is the last thing you could call GripShift.
But please dont get me wrong, I think both Burnout and GripShift are fantastic games, they are just completely different. Its like trying to compare GTA vs FF. Both great, but different.
