Bought this game first with my purchase of the PSP. Got it mainly for the internet capability, but also for the shoot-em-up action! Popped this game into my PSP and boy was I amazed. The intro movie is perfectly cel shaded and introduces the characters pretty well. But once I played it for the first time, I was hooked. I haven't played Twisted Metal since my PS1, and this game brought back old, happy memories.

The graphics are amazing. The explosions and collision sparks look incredible, and the detail of the vehicles is great! The arenas and cities you play in look amazing and have plenty of stuff to blow up, including the Eiffel Tower of France and ancient statues in Eygpt. Some arenas are small, but others are fairly large in size, so you're not looking at the same stuff over and over.

The sounds effects and musical score are above average. When wearing headphones, you capture the sense of stuff happening all around you. Like the crashing sounds, explosions, and whirring of missles hot on your tail.

The game is fairly easy and will take you less than 4 hours to beat on normal game setting your first time through. When you finish the game, you are treated to a comic book ending for each different character. These endings, although not animated, are very well done. The voice acting and ambient sounds pull you into the still pictures and make it seem more real.

There are plenty of unlockable characters/vehicles and levels as you play the game. And with each character having different stats and special weapons, the replay value is there. There are also mini missions/games placed secretly in most of the levels. These games are fun and require different tasks to complete (ie. blowing up taxis, racing and jumping over gaps in the road), and are a fun addition to a great game.

The online aspect of this game is what most people have been complaining about. Server instability and lost connections haunt a lot of players, but I can only assume this is temporary and will be fixed as Sony fixes and improves their servers. Personally, I have played online many times without a hitch.

Overall, this game is a must play. If you're concerned about re-playability and value, go rent it for sure when it comes out at your local rental store. Then make your own judgments.
