| Summary: Huge!
30
I assume this battery does what it promises, double the battary capacity so I base this review on this. What I will focus on here, is the size of this thing -- it's huge!!!
I knew it would be bigger than the normal battery, but didn't expect it to be this large - pictures on Datel's site doesn't show this.
Basicly both the existing battery-lid and battery itself is replaced with Datels X2 battery solution. The battery itself is double the size and the new "lid" sticks out very far on the back of the PSP. Think three times the normal thickness !
It's more a "handle" with this battery attached which may be ok for some - I find it slighty inconvenient and perfer the "normal" ergonomics.
The "lid" replacement (battery-compartment) hovever seems solid and attaches pretty tight on the PSP itself, so it's doesn't rattle too bad or even fall off.
The worst part of the extra buk is that most cases (including PlayGear Pocket, Aero case, AirForm pocket and Ambition case) are basicly useless with this - your PSP simply won't fit in the case anymore!
But if you are using a screen-only protector or front-armor which doesn't encase the entire PSP, you should be fine.
I'm not gonna use this battery as a permanent replacement, but will use it on long trips or vacations outside the Ambition case where I can and swap with the original battery - as such it will be pretty ok. But as permanent replacement, it's useless.
Let's hope a PROPER X2 battery replacement will appear sometime.

how long is the battery life with umd?
+
Twice as long as the normal battery for everything.
+
They should make a version that's the same form factor. Li-polymer batteries can be molded to fill any form - so even if it was the same form factor as the original they could probably gain at least a 30-50% increase in battery life/capacity just by replacing the cover as well as the battery with the new battery. I'd pay $50 for that and much rather having a battery that doesn't increase the device size.
How was the weight of the psp with the x2 in it? Li-polymer batteries are lighter than equivilant li-ion but with it being twice the size/capacity I wonder how that would chang the weight.

that big "X2" also looks pretty ugly too :P

i'm glad you informed us about the size. the pics on the site are quite deceiving.
+
How about some updated pictures? Just saying it's bigger, but not showing us... sorta lame.

Pics are at lik-sang.com in the psp section.
