Now that the PSP has been out for awhile, we're seeing some mature and multi-functional accessories. Joining the fray is Logic 3's wonderful Sound Grip. As the name implies, you get a speaker, cradle and grip all in one package.
The Sound Grip comes with the grip, a lightweight silver cradle and a carrying case. The Grip has an On/Off switch to toggle the speakers, a volume dial, a DC IN on the back and headphone jack. Your PSP will actually sit on top of a Audio jack and Power jack. The cradle also takes two AAA batteries (included), with a great attached battery door (don't have to worry about losing it). The UMD door is accessible at all times.
The PSP fits easily into the Grip. You simply pull up the top clear portion which sits over the top of the PSP (leaves all top ports open except for 2 screwholes), and slide the PSP down onto the Power port and Audio jack.
Sound quality on the Sound Grip is surprisingly decent. Nothing earth-shattering, but it is great for watching movies and listening to music, as well as playing games. You'll appreciate the loud yet clean speaker, especially if you're watching UMD movies which tend to be very quiet. Bass isn't very present, but then it isn't really there when you use the PSP speakers either.
Construction of the Grip is above average. The design is made of black and silver, so it matches the PSP perfectly. The added cradle is a nice touch -- when attached to the Grip, everything sits at a good angle and is perfect for watching movies, especially with the speakers on.
Our only gripe is the cradle. It is supposed to hold the grip on account of two little notches which match up with the cradle. It works, but it isn't always as easy as just setting the grip down onto the cradle. Sometimes you have to hold both pieces to slide them in.
Overall, we're very pleased with the Logic 3 Sound Grip. It's incredibly comfortable to hold, and is even easier to hold than just the PSP by itself thanks to the contoured back. The sound is loud yet clear, the cradle is a nice touch, and your PSP isn't going to fall out like it would with the Playgear Pocket. If you're looking for an economy PSP theater, or a grip, look no further!
