Is it comfortable to hold and play?
This is the primary concern, of course, and the answer is YES! It feels awesome! Just like a DualShock controller. I have much more control over the analog stick than I used to, even while playing with the PSP in my Logitech PlayGear Pocket case. I've played for hours since getting it, and haven't felt the slightest cramp in any of my fingers or thumbs.
Charge
There's no charge indicator on the grip, so you don't know for sure when it has a full charge. I let it charge all night by itself, just to be sure. It uses the charger that the PSP uses, so it doesn't come with one of its own. Just plug it in like you would your PSP, and let it sit for a few hours. You can then either wait until your PSP is about to shut down, or plug your PSP into it right off the bat and let it keep your PSP alive as you play it. You know it's charging the PSP 'cus when the PSP is off, and the grip is plugged into it, the charge light is on. I haven't done any time-tests, but it easily doubled my play time with things like Midnight Club 3 and Untold Legends.
Is it sturdy?
Well, this is where I'd say it could be better, but then it would probably cost more, too. The way that it slides apart and back together feels kind of flimsy, though I've not had any problems with it. Also, the PSP is held in by 4 plastic clips. The clips are flexible enough to put the PSP in and pop it back out without too much force. As such, they are flexible enough such that a vigorous shake while holding just the grip would probably loosen the PSP out of it. Why someone would do that, I have no idea, but there you are. Also, don't pick up the combined unit with just one side of the grip without also holding the PSP with your thumb or something. The overall flexibility of the unit could allow the PSP to pop out if this action were taken with much speed and force. Again, this has not presented a problem to me, just making people aware.
What about the headphones?
There's a dent in the top of the handle where the headphone port is so that you can use it with headphones. The PSP headphone/controller adapter thing fits in OK, but it could be a little longer of a dent for other types of headphone plugs, and even the wire of the PSP plug.
What about storage/transport?
Well, it's not flat or anything, so it's not a slim little pack-along type thing. It does slide into a smaller size when not in use, but it's still kind of bulky. You'll need a bigger bag or pocket to carry this along with your PSP and other stuff.
Overall
If you're not getting cramps from playing a naked PSP, or don't need longer playing time away from the charger, then you don't need this. For the rest of us, it's nice to play longer between charges, and to not worry so much about getting cramps or CTS from playing our PSP.
Points taken from 100 for: build quality (seems flimsy), headphone access (needs to be more generous), and lack of charge indicator.
