While this review concerns the Windows version of iPSP, it is largely reflective of the developers themselves. I was one of the fools who chose to purchase this product on good faith, assuming that the bugs would eventually be worked out. Three months later, the software remains at version 2.0.8, bugs and all. As proof of the ridiculousness of iPSP and laziness of the developers, here's a small list.
1. several of the videos I have encoded contain corrupted data and cannot be transferred to the device (using several different cables, on two different computers). I have verified that the source videos transcoded with different software produce uncorrupted output.
2. The software will crash when the PSP is disconnected, even when the program is not accessing the device.
3. The software inaccurately reports that a new version is available on start up.
Overall, iPSP is full of obvious holes, misssing necessary functionality, and glaringly unfinished. Support requests are either unanswered or offer little help. A PayPal complaint was ultimately dismissed because it fails to cover "virtual goods."
Developer RnSKSoftronics should be ashamed of itself.
i agree. it doesn't recognize my psp is connected all the time, has problems with video files, the sync memory stick doesn't work and a few other problems. it's sad to hear this person is not getting any support after they paid for it.
I agree, there's some quirks with this software. I cannot get the movie functionality to work - at all!
There's some good things about iPSP though: it's very very transparent what's going on. You drag-and-drop your stuff to the PSP and it's quite straightforward to see that it's syncing etc. This is where PSPware fails miserably. It's unclear what it's doing at a given time.
It seems that PSPware just needs a cleaning up on the UI side, e.g. progress bars and much more info on the status of things. Like a redesign and the way you interact with it as a user. Because it seems that iPSP is fundamentally buggy and not well designed from a tech standpoint, and that PSPware will be a much better product in the long run.
Just my 2 cents. I'm only a user after all, not a developer! ;-)
