There are a handful of PSP 'covers' out there but not that many good quality ones. JAVOedge is giving it a try with their Metallic Skin.
The material itself is quite strange -- smooth to the touch, pliable and semi-soft. All ports have a little with this skin, all buttons, speakers, power, USB, Memory Stick, Shoulder buttons, Infrared, UMD open switch, UMD door, headphones, WiFi switch and even the two little holes on the bottom of the PSP. The function buttons (Home, Volume, Brightness, Mute, Select, Start) are covered, but the skin has a raised imprint of the buttons, so you will know exactly where they are. Pressing these buttons works just fine and actually gives the push a softer feel.
The fit is perfect and goes on easily. Unlike other covers which take a bit of stretching to get on, this is practically effortless. And once it's on, it looks like your PSP and skin were separate at birth. Almost. There's not much to dislike about this case, but it isn't perfect. Unfortunately, it is a little too thick, making button and analog stick access a potential issue. Buttons, D-pad and analog stick are easily accessible, but there is noticeably less distance between the face of the PSP and these buttons.
The protection provided by the cover is great. You can more comfortably place the PSP on hard surfaces without worrying about shocks or scratches. You may find that the material actually helps with that dreaded epidemic, PSP sweat. You can definetly rest assured that your PSP is all but covered from scratches.
If only the case were slightly thinner, this would be quite the perfect PSP cover/skin. As it stands, it's almost there. Some of you will actually be able to overlook this, so if you need a stylish and protective skin, then give the JAVOedge Metallic Skin a shot.

good review. i agree... it seems to be too thick. looks pretty cool though.

I doubt it, but would it fit in the playgear pocket or any similar cases with this skin on?

Just like the pelican skingrip, but looks nicer
what i've noticed, though, is that the skingrip doesn't let the PSP use any cases afterwards
