| Summary: Geez, It's not that bad!
90
I've read lots of bad reviews on this game and they all say: SUCKS! But it's not that bad! What we have to remember is: this is a handheld system, people, and the games may not be the best but I think we can bear with when it comes to Death Jr.
Audio/Video
Great. Awesome graphics. There's really nothing to complain about. In fact, these are probably the best on the PSP so far. The music is great. I got the special edition with the soundtrack and I listen to the songs on da PSP all all of de time, maan.
Gameplay
The Not-so-goods: I admit, this is really where DJ sucks, but not too bad. The camera is mainly the problem. In order to see the desired location to "hop" DJ to, you must press L and the camera will snap to the place. No free camera to turn it around, 'cept free look which I rarely use except when aiming. You WILL get used to it. The other problem is his sheath jump; but not a big prob.
The Very-nice-s: I love DJ's control system. Switching between guns, the flame thrower, the C4 Hamsters, the Sword. It's all good. I find it extremely fun. This is a hack n slash and not at all bad for a handheld. You can upgrade with different moves and features and such - me likey. DJ himself is a great little guy to control.
Story
This is where DJ goes ker pooey. The beginning is all there really is and then the action. Barely any comedy at all. I kind of like this. Just hack away for me. On the go, I don't have time for story. I mean, on the gameboy, when was the last time you actually looked forward to a story? (Except for Kingdom Hearts: CoM yay!)
Loading times/Level design
Barely any. Just a small green swoosh and you're there. There are plenty of levels to keep you occupied as well. I for one feel the levels add a great deal of variety.
Overall: PICK IT UP! It's defidentaly worth getting! This is not a bad game! If they had made this for the PS2, yes, it would suck. But this is a handheld, people. And frankly, with all this lack of good games for the PSP, I say this is one of those that you should get. Of course, I haven't finished the game, I just got it yesterday, so if I play this all the way through and I don't like it, I will inform you. I will not end my review on a bad note! IT IS GOOD! GET IT!

I seriously wish that "captain" would edit for illiterate content instead of duplicate threads - you 12 year olds are starting to really kill the joy of this site.
It's either that, or just a really large group of idiots.

Your review...confuses me greatly.
You acknowledge all of it's NOTABLE faults (the lack of ANY story whatsoever, which would be fine it were you know...a puzzle game or something, and the shoddy camera). Yet you give the game a 90/100? If you liked it fine, but if that's all it takes to get a 90 from you, what do you give games you don't like? Reserve the good ratings for really good games, take into account a 90/100 is basically saying it almost flawless.
DJ is a platformer, platformers CAN go without story, I'll give you that, though the PSP is easily capable of one. However, they are made/broken by camera controls, and that's almost purely what drags DJ down (well, and the lack of any kind of testing and shoddy AI).
I really just think you should be...more picky with your scores? The review itself is personal opinion of course.

Not a bad review. Next time I would like a bit more details, but then again, not everyone likes reading long reviews like I do!

the problem with PSP is that the graphics sometimes look so good that people compare the games to ps2 hehe. i have to agree with tyrant in that its strange that you seem to not like the main parts of a game that make games good, yet you gave it a 90%, doesnt sound consistent with what you wrote. camera angles can single handedly make or break games at least for me they can. i dont just believe whatever i read, so those other negative post dont really bother me. your post seems to make me look at this game in the worst light so far and your actually for the game lol. i think maybe you should finish the game up before you review it. i liked Untold legends in the begining but while playing just a little longer, i started to really regret buying it. by what you wrote i'd say you gave it a 75% hehe, either way i'll probably rent it to see for myself.

Terrible review.
"this is really where DJ sucks, but not too bad." oxymoron
He admits to buying the special edition of it, what is he GOING to say? Admit he wasted his money? Hell no. This "review" is his attempt to justify his wasted purchase.

People, I like this game. I gave it the review I wanted. I really play this alot and I like it. Alot of the stuff I wrote in there got edited in fact...

hmm strange that so much would go edited when in some of my old reviews, they didnt even correct obvious spelling mistakes that i made. i'm not calling you a liar i just find that strange.

You're wrong for.. well, you're wrong about everything said there.
UMDs hold 1.8G of data, compared to the 4.5G of a standard DVD. It's less, of course, but you fail to see the obvious; you don't need as much storage for a system that's this much smaller. You don't have to render textures at as high a resolution to get them to look of similar quality on a screen this much smaller, which also brings me to my next point.
Not only does the PSP statistically have more power than the PS2, comparing the PSP's 333MHz processor to the PS2's 290MHz processor, you ARE RENDERING ON A MUCH SMALLER SCREEN. The potential for graphics that feel somewhere around Xbox but on the PSP are very, very viable. It's just going to take a little while for developers to really move into the hardware.
Also, Vulgar is 100% right. No longer does the mentality of "Well, it's handheld so it's pretty good... For a handheld" apply here. The PSP is the power of current generation consoles in your hand. Hell, I'd rate PSP games more harshly than console games if anything, since there aren't many of them right now.edited: Aug 22 2005
