And right to the future!
Wow. WipEout Pure is THE best looking game on the PSP. The framerate doesn't falter much, the ships look great, the backgrounds are fascinating (and distracting too  hehe) and the light effects are perfect. This doesn't just look good for a game on a portable system, it looks good for any game on any system.
As for the gameplay, you're in good hands. They've taken it back to the PSOne versions of the Wipeout series in terms of gameplay. The ships control just as they ever have and if you're familiar with any of the Wipeout games, you'll fit right in. The game retains the same Single Race/Tournament structure for the games, but there are a few differences you'll notice when you play. First, they've done away with the Pit system. Now to regain your energy, you press Circle and you will absorb any items you're currently holding. There's a new Zone mode, where you simply attempt to go as many times around a track by yourself before you blow up. The trick is... The farther you go around the track, the faster your ship goes. A truly interesting mode, to say the least. The replay value is just like any other racing game -- just keep playing until you unlock everything and get tired of it, heh. But with the WiFi support, you should be able to get some great multiplayer games going.
If you're looking for an alternative to Ridge Racer as the premiere racing game on the PSP, look no further. This game will suck you in and leave you begging for more.
