Summary: Interesting new puzzle concept but falls short in options

I'm giving this game a low score for two reasons: no multiplayer and no save option. The prior is forgivable but no saving? Especially for a puzzle game, that's difficult to accept.

The game is fun though and has an interesting concept as near as I can figure out. You have a bunch of blocks you have to rotate into making four connecting blocks of a single color to disappear. You get extra points (and attack points in vs. CPU mode) if you can link up more than four before it disappears. This sends clear attack blocks to your opponent. There are some other things going on too, like you can purposely move your field up a line whenever you want to give you more blocks to work with, your 2x2 rotational square views colors in monochrome, your 2x2 square grows to 3x3 or 4x4, and for some reason some blocks fuse together into one making them difficult to rotate to link with other blocks, etc. It starts off easy but gets difficult pretty fast.

Audibly, not much going on, it's a puzzle game and it isn't Lumines or Tetris.

Visually, the game has a pretty standard design for Japanese puzzle games. Bright, simple, cute characters that are very expressive and animated.

There are three modes of play:, Versus CPU mode where you play against CPU characters of increasing difficulty, single player mode, and a mode where you can select your CPU opponent.

A fun puzzle game, but if you can't save your score (which seems to reset each stage), what's the point really?

Haha. I wrote them all at once and they've been slowly published. I just wanted to give a quick review to import titles so people can have some info on them. Still waiting on your Tenchu review.

I forgot to mention in the review that while this type of bright character design and presentation is common in Japanese puzzle games it may be offputting to Westerners as being too "girly" or kiddy.

Great idea about reviewing imports. There's just no good place to find reviews written in English.

My Tenchu review is coming. I want to play a bit more so I don't write a 'dazzled' review. Also, I'm trying to figure out some of the more esoteric features... : )

I have a lot of the popular games too, but we don't need a fifty-third review on Lumines or Metal Gear Acid. There are actually a lot of Japanese games that aren't listed on this site. If people request a review of something I'd be happy to oblige.

Reminds me of the old SNES title "Tetris Attack". I loved that game.
