Excellent game, review sites like Gamespot, IGN all gave this game great marks. However some of the negative "reviewers" here collide into two main qualms: 1) "same track over and over again", 2) slow speed.
1) There are about 16 tracks, 12 of them to unlock in the game, plus much more through the Gamma packs. Unlike other games like Ridge Racers, every single track is unique from each other and highly detailed. Plus every track has at least 3-4 different points that are very memorable. The fact that some of the reviewers mention that there are only 4 tracks is because they are so terrible that they managed not to have unlocked anything, yet it's really childsplay at the early levels.
2) There are 5 different classes of racing, the first class, Vector, is the slowest and sluggish. The highest class, Phantom however requires such reactions that even the most challenging stages of Ridge Racers becomes rather monotonous and very boring in comparison.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game but to see some reviewers here apparently not capable of even unlocking a faster speed class or tracks then giving the game a poor review makes it unfathomable how terrible they must have been as a gamer.

yeah, from what I have gathered, the people that have told me straight up, that they hate this game, didn't make it past blue ridge on vector.
Zone.. yeah, zone is pretty fun.. apparently the die hard addicts (such as myself), play zone after they have got gold medals on all four tracks JUST to get perfect laps (don't hit anything), just to get the highest score possible, with nothing to gain out of it except accomplishment..
haha. btw, now I have all the gold medals that the US version of wipeout pure can't get currently (with the classic pack 1 download). 204 golds.
