First off I rented this from blockbuster as I do most of my PSP games these days and thank god I did. I briefly played this on the Xbox awhile back and had some mild fun with it then. When I tried it out on the PSP I was suprised to see some pretty decent graphics but after that things went down hill.
Aiming, aim assist, and the camera sometimes make it completely hard to navigate your guy where you want him to go, especially in the last level. The controls themselves aren't that bad and I got used to the slow motion dive and calling shadow fairly fast. About shadow the dog, he has no real point in the story (btw, not any real story, kidnapping blah blah). Shadow for me served to get hidden or distant targets and it's always nice when he can get to them in a split second and ninja strike them as if from nowhere, lol. He really just pops out of thin air and kills the bad guy and steals his gun, I think they could just have a sniper buddy that kills guys for you because the way the dog is implemented in the game, he feels randomly thrown in and it just doesnt look right. The gameplay was kind of boring to start with and it wasn't until the later stages and better guns did the game pick up a bit.
The sound was forgettable default music, or at least it is now, lol. The load times weren't so terrible, but that's after playing MC3 for a while lol.
When it came down to it, I beat the game on normal in around a hour and a half at most and had the feeling I got jipped after I was done. Some parts of the game are a little harder than others but the game stayed pretty simple throughout. The last guy, Whisper I beat on the first try and I didn't even know that the game was gonna be over, I thought it was gonna be an imposter or something lol.
Well that was it, the game was over, and I had no need to play it anymore or on any other difficulty. Keep in mind, this game does also offer a multiplyer feature, but I wasn't willing to find someone with a game to try it. Even though it had brief moments, I hope this game isn't a sign of things to come. If you were a fan of the older version, rent it, if you are looking for a fun game worth 6 dollars to rent, walk past this one.
if you cant rent this game, i would stay away from it still. if they somehow manage to make a sequel to this disaster, it will probably be much better. if anything, this game will dissapoint you and give a false idea of what the PSP is capable of.

if you like the game thats great for you, but this is my review of it and thats exactly how i feel about this game. i myself dont usually take the game site reviews seriously, but i have to agree with them when it comes to this game. there are much better games on PSP to play then this one, in MY opinion.
i never liked this game lets get this clear. Overall its a terrible game but i will admit its a rental as it is fun for teh first half hour.. Its repetitive garbage thats flawed.
