| Summary: A Different Perspective
80
I really like the case. To keep this in perspective, I also have the Playgear case that most people prefer. I think many like the insert thing, which is cool.
However, I find myself coming back to the the Mad Catz case and here is why. I've found that most hard cases leave the shoulder buttons and ports for charging, headphones, etc. exposed (for easy access). This is fine for many people, but I travel a great deal and I don't like this "stuff" exposed.
When I travel, my PSP "rides" in a rolling laptop backpack where it does get bumped around a little bit. The Mad Catz case COMPLETELY encloses your PSP, no exposed shoulder buttons or ports. My PSP is safe and secure.
I have traveled thousands of miles on a dozen flights and my PSP is pristine.
As to the case's construction. Yes, it is plastic, but, no better or worse than the plastic used in the construction of the Playgear and it has yet to develop scratches (so it seems "tough" . Yes, the release latch was stiff when the case was new, but, now that I have been using it for awhile, it works just fine.
The headphones are a throw-in, as was noted in the previous review, they stink.
Screen protectors, I use them. I don't have personal experience with the Hori's, but based on the descriptions I have read, they seem very similar. These screen protectors are fine. When I have used all the Mad Catz protectors, I'll check-out the Hori's but these are fine.
The UMD cases are servicable for a single disk storage system. These cases are no better or worse than any of the other single UMD storage solutions that exist, but I'll keep looking for a multiple UMD storage solution.
Overall, this kit is about the case and screen protectors. If you are looking for a case that COMPLETELY encloses your PSP, this is worth a look. The screen protectors are a bonus.
From a value perspective:
Playgear case.........$20.00
4 Hori protectors.....$20.00 ($5.00 each)
TOTAL.................$40.00
Mad Catz Kit..........$20.00 (headphone and UMD cases a bonus!?)
Just my humble opinion.

Comparing MadCatz screen protectors and case to Logitech and Hori is like comparing Bollywood to Hollywood. You may like it - sure, it's all a matter of taste - but it's just not the same LEAGUE...edited: Jul 25 2005

Grzesiek:
I own and use both the MadCatz and Logitech cases and I stand by my comments.....the MadCatz case does a better job of protecting my PSP and has proven itself through use to be just as durable. Again, this is my real world EXPERIENCE and not just a perception.
I cannot say the same for the screen protectors since I have not used the Hori's and admit so in my comments.
Not familiar with Bollywood!
