| Summary: PS Pictogram Case Review
90
When my brother returned from his business trip to Japan, he brought back 3 Porter Cases (PS Pictogram Cases), and told me that two sold for around 6000 NT(around 180 USD), and that they were limited edition.
It's nothing short of a PSP Case made from durable material with a hefty design in the front panel. As you all know, the design includes the four famous Playstation Controller button shapes, and appears as if it were a holster for some sort of gun (just my opinion). In the PSP Carrying space, the inside material feels like a cloth-like surface, and is not dust-prone.
The UMD + whatever you need carry zip-open space features a safe zipper pocket for memory sticks (can hold at least 4 at once).
Overall, the PS Pictogram case isn't any different from other cases. It has been sitting on my bookshelf for weeks, and thanks to PSP411 and a number of sources, I have the right to brag about my free PS Pictogram. Just Kidding. :-)
Pros
Stylish design on front panel
Resembles and is an expensive product
PSP Holster-like reach-for-a-gun-if-someone-tries-to-steal-your-psp kind of style
PSP holder doesn't attract dust
Cons
Feels like cheap material. You'd think for 99 dollars that this case would be suede or leather.

Porter makes lots of overpriced bags here in Japan, and this is no exception. I'm not a fan of their styling - their products look pretty bland to me. But you do see people walking around with packs and soft brief cases here and there. I'd guess folks probably buy them because they are actually made in Japan, instead of China. But $90 for a small case is nuts.

PSP out in the open like this ? Nothing to lock it ? That's asking to be robbed, that's for sure...

Japan is NOT the U.S.
People do not try to steal things from you... unless you are drunk and sleeping on the train at night.
I have one of these... it think it is great and very stylish.
Many Japanese people have asked me where I bought it... they are surprised it is from Porter Bags.
It is great for carrying your PSP around and easily listening to music. It looks more cool than any IPOD POS!
The PSP is held in the case securely... no chance of it falling out, unless you are running.
Actually... I am selling my case for US$50.00.
Because... I just bought a new Porter PSP case.

"umijin"... Are you Japanese?
How long have you lived in Japan?
You think $90 is nuts for this small case?
What about the prices for almost every thing else here?!
I think the price of this case is in line with every thing else here in Japan.
Like US$18.00 for a regular movie ticket!!! (Yes... I know you can get cheaper tickets at discount shops.)

In Japan I am sure this is a really cool case.
Sorry but the rainbow tag here in the U.S. says "Hi all! Look how gay I am." (great if you are not straight of course).
Aside from that, it just doesn't seem very functional. I had a case that zipped closed completely, wore it on my belt (and ended up with 4 crushed UMD's inside). This case offers even less protection. Sticking out here in the U.S., definitely an invitation for it to be taken. Lastly the price here would be a huge deterrant. For that price it better be soft beautiful leather and look cool. My American eyes only see a dorky looking useless case.
Just goes to show we live in very different cultures.

I'm sorry. $90 bucks for a case??? A case right? I got my logitech playgear, my headbanger earsubs & a pelican case, and had plenty of money left over. I think $90 for a case is just insanity.
+
Umm, I'm not Japanese but have lived here for 4.5 years. I agree that many things we pay for are outrageous - part of living here. But ¥9000 for a small bag for your PSP? That's a bit much when you can find other cases (albeit not PORTER) for much less - perhaps ¥4000.
Even iPod cases I've seen here don't approach the cost of half the iPod - perhaps excepting PORTER bags. :-) My beef with PORTER is that they are not that great looking or worth the extra money.

What the hell are you talking about?!
Where do you live in Japan?
In Tokyo, Japan... regular admission to a movie theater is US$18.00!
You can some times get discount tickets for US$10.00 or US$13.00.
Please tell me what movie theaters in Tokyo have $6.00 or $9.00 tickets!edited: Jul 21 2005

I'll keep my 19.99 logitech case!!

I think Nick read it wrong and said tickets here are $6 and $9. Thats about right, but it varies.

IF you actually see the bag thing in front of you, it's not that easy to steal.
the picture leaves on a tiny little panel made of durable material.
but still im using my Playgear Pocket and this bag is collecting dust on my bookshelf.
+
yea read it wrong sorry, anyway why would you want this unless your a girl (not that girls don't own psp's it's just a majority of them don't) it looks like a purse and instead of a small dog it's a psp
