The first first-person-shooter (FPS) for PSP is the standard for any other game to try and take its place. It’s like the Halo for handhelds.
Playability/Controls - 80
It is a game that will take time to get accustomed to, with only one analog stick, you will find it difficult to move your character around with the X, O, /, and Square buttons replacing what would normally be the right analog stick. Try experimenting with the sensitivity and it’s like moving your character around with two D-pads (I don’t like analog sticks much so I use the D-pad most of the time). The L button jumps, it will take a while to get used to not hitting ‘X’. These problems aren’t really the deciding factor in the game’s playability and once you get accustomed to the controls (It’s for a handheld FPS) this will become one of your favorite shooters.
Graphics - 95
Probably the best graphics I’ve seen on the PSP thus far (I own four games because I’m poor.) The explosions are good, the weapons are realistic and the enemies can be taken seriously. Not much else to say except this game uses the PSP’s hardware to the best of its ability and is a fantastic looking FPS.
Loading time - 100
After playing NFL Street 2 on the PSP, it makes the short loading times even shorter. For anyone else it is still one of the quickest loading games you’ll find for your PSP.
Sound - 85
You’ve got the PSP speakers to deal with, you won’t have 5.1 surround sound, but the sound is still good. The guns sound realistic (the realistic guns do, anyway) and even the plasma and light weapons are believable. The screeches of the enemies aren’t unbearable either.
Multiplayer
I don’t know anyone at the moment that has this game besides me, so I can’t review the multiplayer. It features the classic Deathmatch, Keep the Mark (King of the Hill) and Last Man Standing (Elimination). I am disappointed that there is no Capture the Flag however.
I've settled on control scheme B - the analog stick is best for looking around, but I still end up switching weapons when I don't want to.
I am very impressed with this game - it doesn't yield all its secrets immediately, which I like. It has next to no story - which is good for a handheld. And what more can I say about the load times? After suffering through Untold Legends and Midnight Club DUB edition, Coded Arms is a dream!
Can't wait to get back to it...must...shoot more...stuff...
if u try different control settings its still hard because on all game systems the moving is on the left side
switching it can take a while to get use 2
OSCAR.. I beat it in 3-4 hours.. credits rolled.. thats the end.. then there is the skull screen where it starts glitching out... when you go back to start battle in menu, you have infinity sector opened up...
infinity = doesn't end..
So sector 1 and 2......all there is for linear progression... i'm in L12 now in infinity and i haven't seen any variations of bosses yet..... so..
it is short.. very short.
Even though it is short, I still think it is worth the 39.99 US I paid for it.. thats how good I thought it was.
u beat it that quick? what was ur key to the bosses? the robot one was easy, but the resident evil looking one at 30 stories high is a bitch. Even when u destroy his limbs thos alien buggers just keep coming!
synt.. don't even bother going for the limbs, just go for the hole in his head when it opens.. walk around the platform until you get to the top and don't use rockets, use the shotgun ... the rockets are a pain in the ass to aim right and when you think you've got it aimed right, he moves and you waste a rocket.
The Ruins boss in sector 2 is a bug.. so use plasma.LCH if you have plenty of ammo and aim for the lit up part... mainly just stay out of his way.
Personally, here is my difficulty ranking on bosses.
1:mines boss
2:city boss
3:runis boss (super easy)
