I had never seen this Spider-man the new animated series on MTV; I don't frequently watch MTV. I watched the first 2 of 3 episodes on the UMD. Here are some of my observations.
The episodes are highly stylistic-unlike the Marvel Spider-man cartoons of the 80s and 90s; the plots are fairly well written; Neil Patrick Harris, Lisa Loeb, and Ian Zering do excellent voice overs for Peter Parker, MJ, and Harry Osborn. I was especially impressed with Neil Patrick Harris as Peter Parker. He really managed to emote the sensitivity and intelligence of Peter Parker via the animation. I could almost "see" him via the Peter Parker character.
It's an interesting rendition of Spider-man and if they ever come out with any more episodes on UMD, I will purcahse them. I would recommend this UMD. It is an interesting piece to have in one's collection.
It's not my favorite rendition of Spider-Man, but I thought it really was ok. As I stated in my review, I liked it enough that I would purchase future releases of episodes.
what i find terrribly insulting, is that this series was originally released with the entire series on 2 DVDs. then released for the kidies on 4DVDs 3 episodes per DVD. So while you can release full movies that have been released on DVD, you cant do this entire series on 2 UMDs? thats just plain stupid.
its a great series that is based a year after the 1st movie & has an awesome rewritten origin of Electro. the style of the series i found to be wonderful. would be nice to see Marvel bring this back by making this a straight to DVD/UMD series. I would probably be enticed by 4 ALL NEW episodes a disc.
